About this video
NEAR already lets users hold assets in a post-quantum secure way, that’s just the first step.
Illia Polosukhin walks through future upgrades: shifting block production over to post-quantum cryptography, then rolling the same upgrade out across every chain NEAR holds funds on via Chain Signatures.
Nothing required from the user. It all happens behind the scenes.

So the road from here for the full uh postquantum cryptography security is still going to be a few milestones right. So this is the first milestone that enables users to hold assets in a postquantum secure way. Now the protocol still uses uh the Edison curve for block production and other kind of internal operations.

Now the goal would be to switch those places as well and that requires continuous optimization on performance of the post cryptography and some innovation on our side with how we're designing near there's also the chain signatures themselves and as we using other blockchains again as near holds assets for you on other chains effectively upgrading with them and moving all of your assets for you into postquantum secure Okay, so those are all effectively steps that both for near

blockchain itself kind of internal operations and for holding assets on other chains as they upgrade supporting that. Uh but this is all effectively behind the scenes and will be happening on the background from a user or developer perspective. You can already secure uh your us your yourself or your users funds through this upgrade and not need to worry about this upgrades going forward. They effectively all happen uh on the background.
