About this video

Most blockchains force consensus and execution to happen together. That slows everything down.

NEAR’s SPICE upgrade separates the two, allowing consensus to produce blocks faster while execution updates asynchronously across blocks.

It’s a major architectural step toward scalable blockchain infrastructure.

The future is NEAR.

Spice, separation of consensus and execution. This should allow consensus to run faster, blocks to be produced faster, not only lead to faster block time, but also generally better utilization of the hardware resources and the results throughput. So it also makes the execution model much more flexible because the execution does not need to actually update every single block. It can update asynchronously every several blocks.
