welcome back um this is our first Pagoda meeting I know we've done like developer console stuff but yeah we've kind of changed the format a little bit from going from Explorer and console and we're just gonna kind of have a pagoda platform meeting will be the first Thursday of the month so um thanks for bearing with us with the changes and um yeah same format that we do with all the other community meetings ask any question whenever you have it drop it in the Q a section in the bottom
- 0:42
we'll get to that either in real time or wait till the end and do like an AMA uh section but uh yeah Austin you wanna take it away yeah awesome thanks uh thanks Josh I'll I'll get us started um uh maybe just a quick intro I'm Austin um you may be have seen me from some of the tools Community updates um um but yeah I usually in Toronto I'm doing software engineering um worked through product marketing everywhere in between and and currently working on Pagoda console um which is what we're gonna talk about today so
- 1:13
first things first um if you missed it it was epic miracle was super super sweet um a lot of the Pagoda team was there um we had a ton of events panels there was a little bit of rain but we persevered through it and met a ton of the community members of if we saw there um like awesome and and if not we'll be doing it again next year I have a strong including that will happen again next year so um so join us then but
- 1:38
um what I really wanted to talk about was um one of the our big announcements at Pagoda um lovely the slide is not loading um and essentially this is um the this is the biggest release yet for the Pagoda console so um essentially what we've covered is the ability for people to launch on Pagoda um in Mike literally a few minutes uh and and what I'm going to show today is actually just walking through this flow um um so really we're meeting we're trying to meet the developer across their entire journey of just being able
- 2:11
to quickly launch an application interact with it live and then we'll help the uh help the developers grow their applications as well so um I there is a QR code here if you feel like scanning it um honestly the easiest way to just follow along is to just go to pagoda.co if someone wants to drop just pagoda.co in the chat um that would be sweet uh because I'm gonna start sharing my screen can
- 2:35
everyone can everyone see this console side up screen um yeah because can everyone see the login screen or like we don't see the login screen um no it just kind of like cut off a little bit oh good awesome yeah there we go all right cool so um this is what happens when so like let's go through the entire Journey so you're at pagoda.co um go ahead and get started here um what we've launched uh what we
- 3:07
launched for near con was the ability to just quickly launch what we're calling templates and the first example that we have is the non-flungible token example so if I click on if I click on this this is really just the examples that we've had on GitHub so you can go in you can check this out um this uh this is just the uh the nft example that we have um uh on uh uh as part of like the near examples um project on GitHub so you can go in here you can check out all the
- 3:36
files but the really cool piece um that we've just launched is the ability to launch this entire um this entire dab in a few minutes so now that I've now that I've logged in I can deploy this contract and what's actually happening in the background is we're doing what's called a Dev deploy um so this is essentially we're creating a test net account we're funding that testing account with some testnet tokens
- 4:02
um we're deploying the contract to testnet on that new testnet account and and an amazing new feature that we just launched is the ability to generate an API um so we're automatically creating the API and then bubbling that with the contract so that you can interact with it so it is a Dev deploy which is why it's got this funny address name which is like Dev plus some timestamp and then once you click on it as I'm mentioned the ABI is generating a Json file that
- 4:27
just describes what all the methods are what the parameters are what the types are so that you can interact with uh interact with the contract directly so let's go do that so what what this contract does is it gives developers the or gives users the ability to uh to Mint nfts so we're going to initialize the contract um I'm using my near wallet we're just going to make myself the owner of this and we'll go ahead and send this transaction so this is the new Pagoda interact feature and you can see what
- 5:00
it's asking me to do is just sign a transaction and once this returns amazing love test net latency it's the best uh and as as this Returns what you'll see is the transaction actually showing up um as a result here and it could take a few seconds and it probably will take a few seconds while we're doing that what we can now do now that we own this contract is we can set up and mint an nft so I'm just going to Mint myself in nft let's see if I can
- 5:30
find a payload yes amazing Pagoda is near near Community rocks and there's going to be a lovely image here so what I can go and do now is actually mint this nft I have to attach some gaps for storage and just like going through what you're seeing here is like this is the list of all the functions that um uh that are on that contract these are the parameters and these are the parameter types so that you can actually go ahead and uh send live transactions to the blockchain
- 5:56
so I'll go ahead and I'll approve this transaction awesome cool and what we can do is we can go and take a look at my near wallet everyone see this tab um so this is the wall that I was just logged into this is uh pagodaustin.testnet I just created it and I'll refresh this okay amazing we are currently running into an issue with actually sending the transactions off um this is super fun let me let me try
- 6:39
let me try and initialize some of the contract they're always great yeah it's live demo so it's how you know it's real let me let me create a new project and what I'm going to do is go through this same flow again we're going to deploy another contract this was uh I tried to do I created a new Miner wallet um address so I wonder if there may be some issue with my near wallet um
- 7:12
oh interesting you can take a peek at the car the console if you right click and go uh yeah devtools see what the consoles or errors um oh okay there we go oh hey all right awesome let's try I'm gonna try and connect to a different wallet just to see if that may have been I'm not sure why that would have been an issue but I'll I have used this one in the past and now I'm at the I'm going to ruin this uh the the sense that I did this all at once because I've committed probably one million nfts
- 8:07
um here so you're gonna see a whole bunch of nfts when I go to the wallet so let's uh let's again initialize this contract foreign interesting interesting okay we're getting some 500 errors so let's just keep moving um I'm gonna I'm gonna see if I can set up an alert here um so one uh so one thing that uh so one amazing feature that we did just launched um is the ability to set up alerts via email so um this this feature is really useful because you can set up alerts based on
- 8:56
any action that happens on chain and and this this like prevents or this saves the time of any developer from having to actually go in and manually I create an index error or something that listens to events and responds to them and and what we've done is we've like pre-set some uh some some events that may happen like successful actions failed actions when some event gets logged the function gets called like let's say on mint nft you wanted to go and celebrate it or
- 9:20
something or like add to some ticker or post in some telegram Channel um or for if you're running a D5 protocol or a bridge or something and account balance changes so like let's say you had an account balance drain of like 20 you wanted to set the trigger up for that you can totally do so so what I'll do is I'll set up uh a success trigger and this is the again the contract that we just deployed um and what I'm going to do is uh the
- 9:46
three options that we have are telegram web Hooks and emails so web hooks are extremely powerful and very underutilized so anyone on this call I would challenge you if there's an idea you have to set up a web hook that listens to an event on chain and then does something think like a couple interesting examples I heard at near con was like an Arbitrage bot like listens for uh on-chain events of trading data
- 10:09
and then sets up an Arbitrage bot using a web hook with no code that's a super cool idea or a dow voting example where you could listen to somebody else's votes on a dow and then you could mimic them um um but for this for the purpose of this uh demo I just want to show email alerts so I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to copy this email I'm just using a test uh or um an auto generated uh email
- 10:35
um and and of course you have to go in and confirm that and verify the email address because we don't want to turn uh Pagoda console into uh an attack Vector so now that we have this email um authorized uh we can go ahead and we can create this alert so cool now this this alert is uh is working so I'm actually going to go back let's why not third time third time's a charm let's see if we can actually fire off uh an event and
- 11:02
we'll see if this lets me sinus transaction interesting oh sorry uh this is this one has already been initialized so let's go ahead and give it some values here the Pagoda Community still rocks and we'll attach way too much near and then we'll fire this transaction off okay amazing while we're waiting for the results to load we'll see if this was in issue with just returning results okay amazing so um So currently in in console we're just
- 11:57
having an issue with actually returning the results but what you can see is that this transaction was successfully sent and this is the alert that was sent to that email address so we can go and check it out on explore and of course since Explorer needs a second to catch up with the block hatch so but this is where the the transaction would exist if it uh once it's ready to go um okay amazing um one the next thing that I want to show off is analytics so
- 12:23
uh just checking out let's check out a mainnet contract and what you'll notice is that this is actually like I'm just gonna use the ref Finance contract and note that I obviously I didn't develop this contract so you can add and check out analytics for any contract so let's do that um so here's ref Finance there's a ton uh uh this is um uh jumping back into the analytics page um so analytics are powered by wambi and and what this does is that for any contract this would be your own uh some other contract that you're following it
- 12:55
shows you key data that you would care about like number of transactions total number of users liquid balance gas spent transactions by users uh transactions or transactions and users over time retention rates weekly active users all the super fun stuff that any dap developer would probably just go and create themselves um we just automatically show for them um so uh this is a super handy feature
- 13:18
and you can use it again your contracts or any contract that's on chain um another amazing feature that I wanted to show off was enhanced API um so there are a few tools that you can use in order to actually go and get data from uh data from your uh off chain in order to power parts of your application if you're using nfts or or coins or or functional tokens in in your project
- 13:45
what you can do is you can use these um you can use the enhanced API to automatically grab some on-chain data using pre uh using pre-configured queries um and and you can see here on the right side that there's some example responses of some data and uh this this is just like the quickest way possible to go and query on chain data and return it back to an application or to yourself as a developer
- 14:13
and the last thing that I just wanted to show off was I'm going to switch to another account and we're going to show off the uh RPC we're going to show off the RPC um usage here so uh back in the apis tab you'll see that there's an RPC key here or an API key here so this allows us to go and capture the on chain uh uh the the events that are associated with this RPC key and we can then present RPC statistics so you'll look that over whatever period of time that you choose
- 14:47
to take a look at 30 Days Seven Days a couple of hours it shows all the requests that are associated with that API key and it helps to just show some super quick at a glance information that you might care about like volume or the method breakdown so which methods are called the success rates um like the percentage of success or the number of successes and the number of failures based on any of those RPC requests and all this is again tied to to the uh the API key here so if you
- 15:17
want to get started just jump into go to console grab an API key added to your application start making calls with that API key and then you'll see these these statistics automatically showing up cool so that's that's all that I wanted to demo I'm just going to jump back into the presentation oh I was just gonna say again feel free to questions or um yeah any any questions or comments that you have in the chat be happy to answer them but yeah go ahead awesome
- 15:53
yeah no I was just gonna ask for for questions and and one thing I just wanted to call out was we do have a feedback uh mechanism right within console so you'll notice in the very uh bottom right corner of console we have uh we have a little uh it's like a little speech bubble and if you click on that you can report bugs you can request features or you can just contact us so I've actually was just in there now responding to a few people that um sent
- 16:17
us some requests uh and reported some bugs so thank you for doing that if anyone's on the call that's awesome thank you but that's the easiest way to get in touch with us for any feedback um and like always you can follow us on social um and get started by just hitting pagoda.com cool is there any questions quite quite crowd today they're in awe awesome I'm really looking forward to
- 16:52
some of the future updates where we're going to dive a lot deeper into what's coming next um so just just while if anyone does have any questions in mind just go ahead and type them or raise your hand but um our big Focus just at a very high level is to just grow the number of developers in the near ecosystem and just by delivering whatever tools and services that we can in order to so
- 17:14
um if you do have uh requests ideas the Partnerships opportunities and things like that to help grow the newer ecosystem please reach out I'd love to chat um but um with that Josh I might I might pass it back to you there's no questions cool yeah yeah no um yeah great job I don't yeah I have anything to to add to that but um yeah um feel free to ask any questions if you do have them but it looks like we don't have very many so I guess with that um we could probably just wrap up oh hey
- 17:47
I see a question coming in uh any education Style videos in the making oh that's a good question um could I ask for like a specific like specific like the the short answer is yes um I'd be curious like specifically what you're looking for um like is it like building contracts how to use like Pagoda to go to console um I'm just curious like specifically what type of video uh content that um this person would be looking for
- 18:17
I know that we have Dorian who has like nearbytes that show off some of the uh the interesting things that we've launched um uh and yeah just like Dorian makes review General in your case okay leveraging Pagoda features to build apps yeah you nailed it okay amazing um that is not currently on the radar for something immediately but um that's a really interesting idea so um I'll take that back as feedback for
- 18:42
basically how to use uh the Pagoda uh Pagoda platform uh in order to um like integrate with parts of your DAP in order to make the developer lifecycle a little bit easier um put those in video format it's great feedback thanks Matthias cool um yeah if there's no any Quest um further questions we probably can end it early and oh hey we got one more any security related features in the making tracking transactions Etc
- 19:15
cool yeah again I'd love to unpack that one a little bit more because with things like um uh like tracking transactions for example um the alerts feature is extremely powerful for that right so um uh with using alerts you can listen to any type of event that happens on chain uh and react to it so if some transaction happens like you can go successful transactions fail transactions specific functions being called account balances changing um and a couple of other ones that I
- 19:46
can't remember off the top of my head so um that would be the closest that we have to monitoring transactions um but uh I'd also be curious like Mateus from uh other security related tools all right I'm reading this now so when using usdt or usdc everything happens through rap.nir so it becomes a painted Trace originator uh signed accounts that initiated transactions interesting okay so this is more of an
- 20:12
audit tool um yeah um beyond beyond alerts and triggers like um just from a security perspective from like a like an auditing transaction perspective it's not the immediate focus of console but um I do think that that's uh like a really interesting use case um and um I I'll I'll send you I'm not sure if there's some way for me to send my email address or telegram to Mateus Josh do you know because I'd like to just like maybe follow up and have like a more in-depth conversation about expectations
- 20:44
yeah yeah absolutely um and you know their Discord handle um but yeah Matisse if you want to drop that ping let me look here I'll just drop my I'll just drop my email okay awesome um I know this is like so like faux pas just because I actually don't know my Discord handle with the numbers off off hand or at Austin's Baggio um that's that's me on Twitter too um uh yes posting in office hours that yeah that'd be awesome um
- 21:18
cool um thanks for yeah thanks for the engagement with Davis um all right I see another anonymous attendee any plans of using a contract API for generating JS client-side libraries that can have more type safe when interacting with the contract from the client side yeah that's one of the many benefits of an ABI so um one discussion that we're um uh uh like I I would I would suggest
- 21:43
that like the immediate answer that is that it's kind of up to the developer if they want to use an Avi to go and validate front ends um so like as you're building a smart contract if you do have an API that's generated and up to date you could use that in as part of like your Dev flow to just help with um suggestions as you're typing and now that I think about it that actually feels a little bit more like uh IDE browser extension
- 22:06
um but um uh yeah like uh there is there's definitely more upcoming work on the uh the API itself and I would encourage you to paste that feedback in the uh and in the devs feedback channel so we can get that over to the tools team um just to just to show that there's like a plus one uh for and actually we'll send that over to the tools team just uh so that you don't have to um just as like a plus one that there
- 22:30
might be an opportunity for better type safety um with contract apis um and and another another note uh just on the API um you can generate them for rust contracts um right now and and it's it's on the roadmap but it's obviously a very different type of challenge to generate apis for JavaScript and typescript contracts so um hopefully we'll be able to support that soon in the future just a just to level set expectations if
- 22:55
there's any JS or TS devs in the audience wondering when they can if they can use apis it's currently just for dust contracts right now all right cool awesome any other questions can you know one more any tools for the new cross contract calls with Aurora oh I'm actually I know that we're talking a lot about uh cross-contract calls with Aurora but I didn't know they actually implemented a solution that'd be really
- 23:31
cool to follow up on uh Austin do you know anything about that yeah I um I remember at near con actually watching um um oh man I'm blanking on his name but he he did he discussed like the the new contract across contract calls architecture um but I don't really call no it wasn't it wasn't uh Alex it was um uh yeah I I I'm black but um yeah from uh from the Pagoda perspective not currently uh with cross-contract calls on Aurora cool
- 24:11
any other questions was that eight seconds cool well thank you so much Austin for for going through all this I'm really excited uh enough harassment on my side thanks guys uh you know thanks thanks so much all the questions um yeah no thanks thanks again for showing us the the continuing uh evolving Pagoda platform uh stoked to see what it becomes and uh yeah I guess call to action would be go to pagoda.co try it out leave some feedback in that and that button uh anything else you want you'd like to uh have the audience
- 25:01
engage in or the YouTube viewers yeah give it give it a give it a try and I'm I'm just going to list out the open challenge again do something crazy with alerts like let's see what you can do with alerts and then tag us and it would tag us with it so uh alerts and triggers I think is really powerful with web hooks so if you if you come up with an interesting use case um just throw like a quick blurb on Twitter with like a gif or something that shows what it does and uh tag Us in
- 25:25
it and we'll check it out awesome sounds good thanks Austin thanks everyone for joining uh thanks everybody see you next Monday and yeah next week Thursday will be the protocol meeting so come join and ask any questions about the protocol all right take care
