hi friends my name is L and I am d contributor at near devhub I would like to welcome you to the tools Community call and if you haven't attended one yet those are informal sessions where we share updates discuss and present tooling projects from the ecosystem if you want to get involved join and reach out in our telegram group you can see the recordings of the previous sessions or on dev hub's YouTube channel today we
- 0:28
are joined by by a lovely bunch that uh we're going where we're going to be talking about L 2 in indexer and the tools that came out of them we have updates from gordi from L chain on wallet selector and fro would present updates and exciting new things that that came to the r stack updates uh I would like to start uh with the updates from vmir on L vmir are you around yes thank you for inviting me I'm
- 1:03
and yeah so can you go can you yeah cool cool so today I want to show you a very quick demo and I want to show show you what is lens tool and why I build it and how it could help you with your like everyday development process so let me share my screen so before of that I prepared like a very small small and simple smart contract where basically you have two methods you can write a record and you
- 1:36
can read a record but quite easy and you will store it in the like records look up map right and here we go so this is one l tool the web tool which allows you to uh to basically send every possible almost every possible transactions on you and save this trans transactions and like reuse it how much time you need to do this also it's not only about the transaction but also about like a calls so here you can see
- 2:13
all uh standard LPC methods and you call any one of them so um let's go back to our like contract and let's uh put this on the Chain so for this we need to create like an account right uh prepared like a few templates to save our time uh so basically we create a new transaction here you can select the access key before you will be able to do this you need to you need go to the Keys page and you basically need to import this So currently support on like SE phice and
- 2:53
private key and also you can specify deration pass uh yeah uh so for this you will need to uh put some like actions so the first action should be like create account also you need to transfer some amount of new tokens at like an SK and select the contract itself right so for this let's select the contract and also we want to initialize our contract and we need to call the new methods this for
- 3:27
example like 50 15 and let's name it test. eclipser click and right a bit so yeah everything was simply fine let's take a look let's take a look again no transaction one yeah as you can see everything look simply fine uh so um let's go right some record right so for this we need to set check the method set up the method right record this one is go sent and right the bit yeah and the
- 4:17
transaction is likewise successful so and go now and for now let's go to our calls and we don't want to pay like a gas for Cent transactions for viewer for view mthod right so for this and just select the call function select the account also this method drop down you will see all uh exported V functions course my contact right now doesn't support API and here we go we have the result also we can simply
- 4:56
rewrite record and another like oops and another success just what we reite right cool so and you can do whatever you want for example we can um add function call Key and specify some like additional conditions or you can write via function called two as well or you can simply go and delete any key from your account you need and you will be able to automatically see all possible keys at this moment or you can simply go and delete
- 5:49
your account and yeah cool it simply work also you can um you can store uh the accounts you often use and to some sort of list and you'll be able to see it as well so all data are like cial and saved into into your um indexb inside the browser so nothing Char is publicity yeah so it is so it's quick demo thank you guys thank you for watching some uh yeah quite a lot of people the chats are already digging in so guys yeah thank thank you guys uh if you have questions
- 6:36
for Vladimir uh should them up uh one question that I would have uh is what was the initial intention for you to to build these to it's uh because it's quite elaborate so what is the plan for it uh so my initial intent to create this app was when I was like X your foundation cor contributor uh I every day have like a lot of work with a smart contract for example I work with uh multi contract multi contract for foundation and we
- 7:10
built with the p uh the front end uh and um and the problem was that I tested it already on the minet I sent a lot of like request function call with with a lot like of data you know with a very like big arguments just on and when you call like 100 or 200s times this function call and you need to change like some small piece of data it's like qu born so at that time so the year I was born how I can like make my life more easier so and it was like
- 7:57
almost 10 months ago yeah so that's the story it not yeah classic one uh if you have to do it more than twice better automated uh I see that Vlad has raised hand Vlad yeah well quick question do do you have support for wallet selector so you don't need to give up your private full access key to the uh not right now not right now cuz my main intention to do to provide support for
- 8:29
the net and also not only for testet or mayet but also for every local uh chain you can like loue so and I thought how I can integrate wallet selector to the chains what I don't really know about so for example if you will launch your own local net or some private net and you w have uh wallet selector support and yeah so it's that it this time it doesn't make any sense to have it so because it P works on the
- 9:05
four two two Nets main net and bestest net so yeah I decided to skip this at least for now maybe very possible I will out the support for ler in the future yeah because my intention to support all possible new chains I see well main net and test net are still the most popular ones but I see a yeah but I mean as far this is not for the minet mostly this is for test net so it's not a big deal to sh your test net like private gear right because
- 9:44
you don't have real real money on that so yeah but for the man for the main net definitely yeah it would be it would be nice to add wall selector but we can face like some problems for example limitation for the maximum transaction uh size you can pass through it I believe so great thank you uh next on the agenda it's the man himself uh Vladimir more known as slime slime everything he is active contributor from the community actively talking into the de channels
- 10:26
and like build quite a few uh cool stuff that he's going to be sharing some of some of them with us today so Vladimir hey yes amazing great to have you around man do you see the screen yep great so IND is a near indexer framework it allows you to get data from near data AWS Lake framework and um in future you can you will be able to also spin up your own indexer using near core but uh I don't actually have the hardware the hardware for it
- 11:11
yet so not now it has your screen is not showing up oh let me try again what about now yeah it works yeah great but only only the meats uh oh no it's full screen okay yeah good so it has different sources of new data it has an interface that you can Implement as a trade it has this process which are basically just Loops of row data but it also has um on transaction and on receipt which has um struct that have previous receipts uh
- 12:01
transaction data and all receipt is in the transaction so you don't actually have to to gather all these receipts parent and the child receipts it's everything in one place it does with try automatically has performance forming handles skip blocks and uh control C has a feature that allows you to continue on interrupt on control C and uh has some more utils utilities so one of these indexers it has quite a lot of indexers actually open source you
- 12:43
can use them as examples everything here so one of this is lock indexer it's basically just a just an indexer that sends everything to a regb to Reg stream and um one of the main us users of this is um interior bot so you can uh contract logs and um see what logs you want to get it can be PL text you can add some account it's a your account so it works but it's it has to be near or test
- 13:25
net if you want to actually use it so you can set up many filters it supports M net and test net and um you can also filter by um NP 297 events like standard um version processor event and so on for example I want to get some toking events so so I set up NP 141 you went and then it should appear shortly or maybe it won actually maybe it reached some limits because I have a lot of uh stuff
- 14:10
here on this account something always happens wrong with live demos okay so anyway it has also by the way a new feature called DGI it's basically near C RS that has U everything in the telegram except for like sending transactions and other not to view only features so you can oh it's actually here started appearing so I want to see data from for slam dragon. new let's quickly turn this
- 14:53
off so on bainet and now okay so it has uh all this uh information that you would have on on new C RS and uh the feature that that is not present on C RS is a link sharing so if you share this link let me share it to you in the chat when you run this link uh and you click Start you will get the same output as um as I got you will run the same command it's a an open source B it has some open source features but not all of
- 15:43
them are open source and it get events from either this indexer or if you want to run it locally without setting up the infrastructure you can just uh use the websocket API it's uh not really production ready but it has some things for if you want to develop or test so if you don't don't want to spin up your own infrastructure it's kind of useful that was all I have for today thank you amazing thanks um can you drop the link to the repository in the chat and
- 16:21
we'll make sure that it's included also into uh yeah into the description of the video once it goes up um yeah same uh from L to as well or at least to the parts which are open source or not so any questions for Vladimir twice yeah volumer one yeah so as I understood it runs on top of new Lake right it runs on top of it can run on top of neur L but um it uh the version that runs in production uses actually near data by fast near it's
- 17:05
free and um I find it quite reliable so I don't see a reason why I I wanted to ask you about like the current price of running you like if you know it yeah it uh it's not very expensive but if you run it locally or not on lws you will have a massive regress amounts I guess that's all right so let me bring up the agenda once again and yeah I don't know how much of you but I assume most of uh not only you but most of us here have
- 17:47
had some issues uh with the wallet selector not being the same version with the API JS and it was like not really a nice State uh now this has been fix however there are more updates coming to it and Gorgie from line chain uh is going to be presenting us and giving us some updates on the wallet selector I see that both Gori and Christo are in the call um who is going to present with us today it will be
- 18:18
mey guys my name is I work at L and I'll give you a short update on what's new in wallet selector uh the first thing is that we updated the aps version to version 4 and removed some packages which led to one megabyte reduction in bundle size which is a lot uh there are two new packages the first one is bit wallet which is a a newer version of uh Min based wallet with some changes the other one is uh there is a support for ethereum wallets now which um will
- 19:03
allow the the create creation of ethereum compatible transactions from your transaction inputs which is pretty cool uh there's a new toggle which allows you to choose if you want to remember the last wallet you used or not this is uh on the UI and the last important thing is that uh there's now support for the fa failover RPC provider which allows developers to specify multiple RPC provider URLs URLs sorry and I think that's pretty much it
- 19:40
it was uh pretty short I guess but uh yeah what can we expect from the wallet selector in the near future something that is coming soon is the support for signing multi methods which will be done once we have uh we have finished we need to finish some uh PR changes changes in near J once they're done we can proceed with the support for signing mul great amazing um and any other
- 20:20
inside things that you can share maybe about near APS or anything else that current what currently lime chain is support for please maybe you can take this one or we not sure okay yeah go ahead go Ahad yeah I was going to say that we currently working U on thek J U for J there will be more updates soon amazing looking forward to hear them and so we totally heav you on the next
- 20:51
Community call uh meanwhile Elliot has brought up an issue that needs pay attention so we're going to check it out as well uh thanks for bringing that that pellot uh does anyone have anything to add for uh the wallet selector or um some questions to where's the demo coming up soon uh speaking uh speaking of the demo wise I would like to ask you Morgan like uh would you like to because more or less
- 21:29
of a a wild card because we just showed up but uh do you want to talk a little bit more about ukasi and maybe present the demo with it or I can talk about a little bit um of what's uh taken when was eth Denver four five months ago yeah it's been a while yeah I remember so it it's taken quite a long time to um abstract the um details for okashi and uh am I showing infinity mirror
- 22:07
no can can you guys see what I have on my screen we can see the screen you sharing local host or like local network yeah yeah so this is uh the build that's in in progress It's not online and I'm I'm hoping that most of the work will be done by the end of this month um so okashi proper was uh built um and funded by Stellar to support the soran smart contract and um over the past months uh
- 22:38
we really tried abstracting things away because we want to um broaden out the scope for onboarding developers to blockchain um that's our mission right um onboarding developers to blockchain and the first step uh is rust um and so like it's it's good that we supported Stellar it's good we we did that experiment with with near um but okashi was just a single Lane so we only supported um a single SDK which is the
- 23:12
soron SDK um and you know you can compile a contract and that's fine but broading it out so that it you can create projects of for for various environments well specifically in this case two environments stellar and rust is it was a challenge because the platform was not designed with that intention to begin with and so there's like a massive rebuild of of the whole thing pretty much every single file um
- 23:43
has seen changes in our commit history U but now you can do things like select rust or Stellar when you're creating a new project and if you create a new project with with rust um you can just compile your rust and get um the rust uh output um so these are you know um couple of uh proc macros to decorate um your library so you you take any kind of function you decorated with executable um and then you import the the log
- 24:21
macro uh which works exactly like the uh print uh macro in in rust so you can print regular strings you can print Place holder strings you can um you know print complex debug types um like this and sort of get this output right in the console so this is the first step of uh broadening out the appeal um and introducing the very first step for for developers getting into blockchain we feel like rust is the platform U for
- 25:01
blockchain development obviously there's flavors to it there's there's Stellar there's near um but rust um is the uniting thing and so we want to service those folks and provide them with the ability to write something quick in the browser without having to stall rust compile it and see the result and I don't make a change recompile it and see the result and sort of develop an intuition and
- 25:31
after they've they've adopted rust as their second language uh they can transition into um into creating a blockchain specific project and then you know they can compile that and obviously you you get a different interface which is you know you're calling contracts now you're not just calling a single function so you we going to say I and near and so the outputs are different the console Works a little bit different but the gist of it is is the
- 26:04
same sort of right and um get get instant feedback um yeah so that's what we're working on um this is obviously still work in progress to be able to support these separate environments um there's we're still working on the network deployment side because uh we want we want to support sort of test net main net um interactions for for contracts and U but yeah uh completely re re vamping the
- 26:37
the back end and and the infrastructure to support rust and then um that will enable us to um add support for near hopefully down the line um as an option so yeah that's what we've been working on and I really want to come up and and do a demo when um this process has been completed and and we have it live and you know folks can test it out um but you know this is a local host
- 27:09
sort of on the spot demo hopefully you can see the potential there oh yes we do and uh I am very thankful for uh for my C out and uh that that you Cod it and Well Done uh so just to remind for those who are not familiar with Morgan and okashi if you want to see the video or actually the call it was back in April where Morgan presented what okashi is and what they are doing uh you can see the video it is the TOs
- 27:42
Community call number five and you can see it into the yeah maybe over here they will be appearing and also into the near devhub um YouTube channel so Morgan thanks a lot for this wild card uh demo great to have you around and it's amazing uh about it's amazing amount of effort that you have put into that and you're still putting and I see and I'm pretty much uh sure that a lot of people see a lot of potential and the
- 28:11
possibilities that Watashi can actually bring to the table so without further Ado uh last but never least I would like to welcome Vlad uh more known as fro uh with some rack updates and and some brand new interesting things coming up to Cargo near thanks to uh cooporation with sordan so Vlad if you can please take it away absolutely yeah there's gonna be packed update with all sorts of tooling there is no particular
- 28:45
order uh so bear with me we will take it from here let me share a screen can you see my carger new project templates yes we uh so just FYI um something that has been here for a while now is the started template repo where you can go and use it as a template to start a new project in the code spaces right right there um it's been contributed and built quite a while ago so I wanted to just um remind everybody about existing existence of this page because it's still very handy
- 29:30
but the that was just an intro into carger changes that we have been uh baking for several months I guess um and we will and I'd like to demo the changes there if you go to the releases you will see that the last release was very boring it only had one addition one fix and another like other something something but this this guy has been actually a beefy one and it was a collaboration of uh months of several
- 30:08
contributors and uh I was just inspiration for this whole work but I am um happy to just talk through it um for this call so what uh what's the problem uh if you go to near blocks or any other block uh block Explorer on near and go for uh for example devhub near um can you so we see the contract okay nice we know where when it was deployed what was the code hash the check sum basically of the contract but what does check some even
- 30:45
representing uh and where where is the source code anyway like okay we can probably call some functions uh through various ways and I also have a very handy uh uh ABI built into devhub contract so when you go to execute the function on devhub account it will actually pull in uh all the available methods which is fine but what's actual implementation uh we kind of we don't know um and the reason for that is that the contracts on here are um basically
- 31:25
bite code of vasm um which is great on one point of view and you can you know disassemble it but it's not very fun um and but they are built from the source code at least usually I I've never seen anyone realistically building vasm at bite bite code level uh so they do have the source but where is the source and the source is uh usually somewhere on GitHub but there is no link from like
- 31:58
deployed contract back to the source so what we've uh decided um to to add is to add some metadata and metadata it was nap uh 30s uh 33 guas uh Source meta metadata and that's where you would basically could potentially get information about the contract and if you would go check that out um contract callon devhub contract Source metadata that's method that is available cool let's call it nice yes so we have a version and we
- 32:44
have like we have a version of the contract and we have a supported standards and we have no link to the source code funny enough um but it could be there but still like is it we we could put anything there right any link that's not fun uh how about we actually build the source code like build the um same contract somehow can we do that well if we have the same code um and we try to build the vasm again on a different environment on different
- 33:21
laptop uh server whatnot operating system you will actually get a different vas file um that is unfortunate but that's the reality because of the tooling that is used different versions different path that is used for the compil so what source Canan team actually Andrew is on the call today I guess um together with uh me and a couple of other contributors decided to to do is to okay let's capture the environment the best way we can and we decide to go with the with
- 34:00
Docker environment so the build environment is basically the docker image where we will build it uh and we captur that information in the contract as a details but also we need to actually build in that environment so to long long story short the carer uh after you install it you can um uh you can initiate your new project you can do it in any other way as you wish it basically creates a new carg
- 34:34
project rust project and if you open it uh to in demo uh you will find all the familiar stuff uh but we added actually a couple of configuration details here including the reproducible build section with the reference to the um image that will be used you can uh and it's provided by source can um and uh if we keep this image uh and we provide that information in the contract that will allow us to actually arrive to a reproducible contract which is Handy and uh also what we need we
- 35:16
need to provide the repository link so we will need we will have to push it to to some repo there so let's go and uh create a repo quickly Hub new Reaper um under my account uh tooling demo near tooling demo um all right so rep is there we can now copy it the here uh what else do we do we not we don't do anything else we just go and we need to obviously uh commit the changes and uh fix the
- 36:16
reing and what's the pushed we can do car build or carer deploy straight away uh let's use my test net account to deploy it so what will hold on you didn't okay yeah uh true that's right this guy so it's actually pretty elaborate here you can follow every single step doing but you don't have to um it creates the environment that uses Docker to prepare everything and to clone your Reaper cleanly into that Docker image
- 37:12
and then it builds the contracts right there uh it builds it with AI by default it builds it uh with all the reproducible um build details into it and once we will um get the thing compiled and deployed uh we should be able to also reproduce it so while we are waiting I can um what I can do what what I wanted to talk about um um yeah let me let me talk about a different feature for just for a bit so we have near changes that is also just
- 37:59
one line in the release notes but it's actually huge in my opinion so it's a new teach me mode when you start with that it will actually provide more details when you do any actions with the blockchain so well selecting something there is no nothing happening just questionary right here but as soon as you start hitting some actions you will actually see the exact um oh like interactions happening with the
- 38:30
RPC or some other um uh any like activity that is happening caliz and distalizing of data let's see it down here hopefully yes so when we are calling a get function on social. near contract this is how you call it but then in response you will receive this nonsense um which is actually just array of bytes so here is a helpful python snippet that you can use to decode it but hand handily enough um teach me mode also decodes it for you
- 39:09
for a more human readable way of representing it so you can always see what's like in the response and then it it proceeds with the uh regular output and details about the account that you are viewing so definitely great way like source of wisdom and if you want to learn how exactly near CI does it that's as easy as just Ed and teach me um cool so going back the the carger build has completed and we are ready for deployment we don't need to initialize that contract it's a simple
- 39:51
um uh greeting contract so let's deploy it yes and confirm and uh here we are so just just for your contacts the the contract itself has no changes here it's exactly the same thing no no additions at all so the only change you will need to add in your own contracts if you haven't initialized them with um car new is this section um and yeah let's see what what what it gives us so if we go and execute near on contract call function readon on
- 40:36
this uh my test net account that I was using for tests so you will see that there are basically two view methods available now contract Source metadata and get greeting it's not important get greeting is not important right now but contract Source metadata is Handy let's view it okay boom now we know that it uh so the source code is right here so it's this specific commit with this specific Docker image um with uh
- 41:09
what um with this specific like uh root path inside the contract so if if you have several contracts inside same repo it's also supported or like if you have a um it's called Uh Factory uh contract that needs to embedd it it's also like one inside one reper you can easily uh point out to the folder that needs to be built and this is the command that will be executed inside the
- 41:40
image so it's also carger built uh so in this image provided by Source can we see that uh and now if we will just reproduce the same environment same code same stuff we will be able to see that the the source code as of this commit is actually uh producing the same bite code same wasm file bite to bite and at this point I want to pass it to Andrew who is building upon this foundation on the source scan side and providing some UI
- 42:20
for it Andrew yeah hello everyone hope my internet I won't having trouble so yeah thanks everyone that has been contributing in the past months to this integration and uh I will add to the presentation and show how the reproducibility could be used afterwards so uh here we have the updated app for the source count uh it's almost the same uh I I wouldn't be uh able to show like
- 42:56
the test snap uh deployed contract uh by blad because I'm on the indexing mainnet right now it's kind of hard I'm using the new tools from subquery uh at least it is cheap uh it doesn't cost anything yeah so what what's happening after uh people deploy with carg near deploy I'm catching every transaction that have deploy contract action inside and then I'm passing them to verification server uh that is uh compounding the
- 43:32
contract in the same way and comparing the hash of the uh compiled contract and of the contract on the new chain uh and then uh if the hash is the same it is added to the source can verifier contract which is this one and this app is using this contract to uh filter through all the deployed contracts using carger and uh so you can basically see the contract name language of the contract right now on support trust also the Block in which
- 44:15
it was verified the code hash the four first digits for last digits also I'm uploading uh all the data to ipfs because if uh person uh bu close like the GitHub reper for the contract it wouldn't be able to uh see the actual code and here if we press show more uh it will load the metadata over here you can see the version the standards uh to the G with specific me also the common that was used in
- 44:54
the docker container also so here is the link to the docker image itself to the docker Hub uh yeah and uh this was it so in the future uh we we're already talking in talks with near blocks and uh this could be implemented directly into near blocks uh Andrew correct me if I'm wrong but this information is also stored in the cont cont so on on near you can just kind of make a view
- 45:31
call um to a contract and uh yeah yeah it's and check the status you can just make the view call uh it also has the ABI which makes life easier get Contract the Json AR our account ID and for example let's see the same kind and here we can see the same result BL High this from ipfs theod hash uh it also has the comments and voids uh because it was used with near social before that and I will try implementing it here as well so it will have like upo some comments here for each
- 46:30
contract so I think that's it yeah Bui part uh while we are on the topic I see that there is a question from who somebody raised their their hand I'm sorry I just misclicked the button I wanted to send an em motion there was a hand yeah uh yeah but amazing reproducible builds now seeable for on the blockchain itself and soon to be on your blocks that's huge if you didn't get it it's amazingly big thing uh I would like to ask uh on regards to that
- 47:16
how easy would it be for contracts that are already deployed or contracts that are not made by cargon near to uh start making use of reproducible builds If he if they use version five of nearest Decay RS uh it's just a matter of adding that configuration section inside cargot toml um with a quirk of uh if you dep if you want to include the other contract for example if it's a factory so you
- 47:48
need to make your child uh contract also reproducible and also and and make it part of the Builder rest buil pipeline otherwise we wouldn't be able to build your contract in a in isolated environment but we are building the tooling and demo based on the dev Hub contracts uh so soon that that part will be solved and we'll have a clear path and reference for you amazing I think that this would be a good um like a good article to add into our blog sections of how to migrate for the repr will build
- 48:27
so I'm putting this on my to-do list um so uh anything else you would like to share with us lad yes absolutely but uh before we do that are there any questions regarding the topic that we just covered because I'm just quickly interested are you storing this in a wasm custom section um no it's say it's it's it nearest Decay arest it generates a new view function and new function is just a but basically hardcoded values from the
- 49:00
B point of yeah um all right so and and uh on another topic of security and like tooling around the contract is the code coverage um and I'm it's also not uh my work but I I I really want to uh shout out the team who were building it uh so it's a hacken team um basically providing the carav vasm uh VM coov uh tool tooling that allows developers to add the code coverage um to the smart contracts and build from there um we are yet to in
- 50:01
