Betanet Analysis Group Reports

As announced in the blogpost here, we have a small group of professional validators running their nodes on the new NEAR Betanet. These nodes require additional attention such as frequent updates and reboots - generally speaking, a lot more maintenance.
This activity is valuable for the entire community, as the NEAR Core team can test the nightly releases in a “real-world scenario” and build a more reliable nearcore.

The thread below will be used by the Betanet Analisys Group to report (on a monthly basis) their activities. Every reply will follow a template, which is still very basic and open to improvements, that will be forwarded to NEAR Foundation for the token allocation.

Every reply should contain:

• the timeframe (start and end) of the activity (e.g. November 16th - December 31st 2020)
• the name of the betanet staking pool (e.g. pool1.nearkat.near)
• a list (not mandatory) of the additional measures that were requested, such as hard forks or manual nearcore updates

We will process token allocations in batches (similar to the Stake Wars) so expect a few days to pass between the report submission and the tokens transfer.
The compensation for this activity is $500 in NEAR Tokens per month.

As of today this group is full, and we don’t plan to add other validators to it in the foreseeable future

Dear Validators,

As introduced before, we will use the average of the entire period (feb 15 - apr 15) to calculate the token allocation.
Using the data at NEAR Protocol price today, NEAR live marketcap, chart, and info | CoinMarketCap and the average closing price over this period, the price per token is $5.3531, which translates into 93.4038 tokens per month, and 186.8076 in total.

I’ll wait until Friday to receive the missing reports (I see only 4 out of 8), then I’ll proceed with the allocation.
Warning: not even taking the initiative to claim $500 of rewards may signal a lack of engagement and we may have to replace the unresponsive Betanet Analisys Group members.

So, the total in NEAR tokens for April 15 to May 15 is 96.1538.

Betanet Validators,
To streamline operations, we are considering moving the payout cycle from current monthly payout to quarterly payout.

In this scenario, the remaining payment cycles for the year are [Aug, Sep] and [Oct, Nov, Dec]. Token rewards will be based on the same calculations as before. We will post on the forum about the token allocation once per quarter and you’d submit the token claim once per quarter. Is this something you’d be amenable to?

Hi @janewang! Personally, I’m okay with just filling out the form monthly. What’s best, I guess if payment is made automatically without the need for requesting it every time.

Hi Jane. A quarterly payment would be simpler, but price fluctuations over a 3 month period may be trickier to manage than the 1 month schedule we’re currently on. I don’t have a strong preference either way. Of course it would be even better if we could make it more automated

I missed filling out this form, but our node was always online and restarts were made on time for this period.

Also at the moment our node is one of the few that works. automated monitoring allows us to provide its smooth operation.

Dear betanet node operators, based on individual conversations and the inputs from the NEAR Foundation, we will be moving to payouts for the Betanet Analysis Group to a quarterly basis. The compensation for the Betanet Analysis Group remains at $500 in NEAR Tokens per month. All calculations remain the same. The only update is invoicing and payouts will occur on a quarterly basis to help streamline the invoicing and payment process for the node operators and the NEAR Foundation.

Dear betanet node operators, in order to further streamline your operations, we have now removed the invoicing process by betanet validators entirely.

The NEAR Foundation will automatically be sending the payments to validators on betanet, on a quarterly basis. The compensation for Q4 2021 (spanning October, November, and December) will be remit in early January. We hope this helps you save time and simplify your workflow. Price calculation follows the same logic as previously:

The average closing value between October 1 - 31 (Coinmarketcap) is USD 8.83
Total tokens paid out: 56.64

The average closing value between November 1 - 30 (Coinmarketcap) is USD 10.03
Total tokens paid out: 49.83

The average closing value between December 1 - 31 (Coinmarketcap) is USD 10.72
Total tokens paid out: 46.62

Thanks for the update. I no longer have access to the Slack betanet_analysis channel. Are we continuing with betanet in 2022?
