11th, 2025.I'm Joe from Near Dev Hub, and welcome to NDNA Issue 0.Before we get started, let me introduce some changes with our original show, Dev Hub Live, and on this one now, NDNA.At Dev Hub Live, we've had, uh, well over 50 episodes, including workshops, dozens of great guests, and some fun and engaging content around the developer ecosystem. However, throughout the year, we identified areas where we could make improvements, have been trying to find the right niche for us to continue creating and build out. That's why, starting today, we're introducing the next evolution of Dev Hub Live. While Dev Hub Live will still feature guests from time to time, it will no longer be the primary focus of the show. The new iteration will be called NDNA.NDNA stands for Near Developer News Analysis. The reason we think this is important as a next step is that while a lot of great news is shared, and if you follow along with the Near dev newsletter each week, you are likely seeing this information already. But there's a lot to parse, and we understand that whatand to also understand what this means. For those who are not directly involved in the ecosystem or aren't familiar with Web3, we're not doing a good job of conveying the message about why and sometimes even how.NDNA will cover each week's current news stories in and around the Near developer ecosystem, discussing how they affect developers, analyzing the implications related to these news stories.I emphasize that we say in and around, because around is just as big a part of this as Near is.We like to reach out to both those who are familiar with Near and those who are not. However, you may come across content and feel comfortable learning more about it in a different manner, and we hope that makes sense to you as a developer. Please subscribe and join us at NDNA.NDNA Issue 0.Near's infrastructure is ready for AI.The products aren't.Recently, the- Near quietly crossed a threshold that almost no one outside of the ecosystem noticed. It became one of the only blockchains to support AI integrated smart contracts without compromising user privacy or on-chain determinism. This wasn't thanks to a flashy product launch or yet another Layer 0 integration. It happened because a handful of developer primitives that, taken together, represent the most developer friendly AI infrastructure in all of Web3, and no one is building on it yet.Let's start with what's actually changed.Near now supports trusted execution environments, TEAs, on contracts. That means a smart contract can be deployed to secure verifiable off-chain compute environment.Additionally, this can then run an AI model or any other logic and have on-chain execution with the result. In developer terms, Near now supports yield and resume at the contract level with privacy preserving off-chain in- inference. If you're an AI agent developer, this is foundational infrastructure, the ability to trust the model's output while maintaining a user privacy.See the Near docs on shade agents.Combine that with Near Intents system, which abstracts away transactional signing and front end UX friction, you get a blockchain where autonomous agents can act, decide, and execute without endlessly prompting a user to click to confirm.See Near docs on Near Intents. These aren't speculative tools. They're live.Yet somehow most of the compelling use cases for them, AI agents with real on-chain autonomy, haven't surfaced yet. Why?From capabilities to products. The answer isn't technical.Near's architecture is tailor-made for agentic infrastructure. It's developer ready. The problem is one of narrative and focus.Too many ecosystems are shouting about AI without having the stack to support it.Near quietly has the stack, but hasn't shipped the story. There's no Near native product that demonstrates what this looks like.No AI powered governance mod, no portfolio balancing agent, no personal DAO delegate that votes based on your past preferences and keeps you in the loop.In other words, no AI native apps.I'm not suggesting these capabilities should exist, but rather there is a gap in showcasing them. The Rhea Finance on-chain agent recently launched using BiTAY, which is one of the first real examples, a prompt based inference embedded directly into the DEX, that let users swap, lend, or borrow through an AI workflow. It's a start, but we need more to really showcase this technology. And yet, this is where Web3 is headed. The agen- the agentic frontier isn't just about chat bots. It's about automation, delegation, and trust minimized execution. And if that's the game, Near quietly has built the best stadium. The regulatory advantage no one's using.Zoom out, another dimension of Near's architecture starts to matter.Regulatory compliance. The EU AI Act, UK Data Usage Proposal, and the US Signals on AI Safety all suggest a future where model traceability, secure computation, and user consent aren't optional. They're actually table stakes. In that world, chains that rely entirely on public inference or centralized APIs may struggle.Near's use of TEAs provide a credible answer.Run your AI model in a secure enclave, verify the environment, attest the output. It's a way to preserve verifiability without exposure. It's not hype, it's just good engineering. But even here, the lack of applications undercuts the story. There is no AI Near demo that showcases how regulator save AI could be implemented. There are no enterprise whitepapers or hackathon winners pointing regulators to the stack. And that's a missed opportunity. In a year where legal challenges are emerging all around the AM model training regarding fair use and output liability, Near could stake out a clear lane, the AI stack that lets you build with compliance in mind. Why it matters now?All this is converging at the moment when the rest of the space is shifting from infrastructure to applications.Centralized players are competing for GPU access and hiring talent from one another. The L2s are talking a big AI game, but are leaning 0 on call outs to OpenAI or Anthropic.Near meanwhile, has contract level support for async AI calls by yield resume, T executions that maintain both privacy and proof, intent-based UX that unlocks agents as a UX, which also includes 24 million cross chain volume using intents in even just one day.Onboarding momentum with mobile, with Near Mobile App 2.0, and bounties using the Near platform. The stack is absurdly good, but again, no one has built the iPhone moment for it yet.Near doesn't need 100 AI experiments. It needs one real product, something that says this is what the next interface looks like.Until then, Near remains what it has been for too long, quietly powerful, technically elegant, and commercially under-realized.But that, that won't last forever because somebody will figure this out, and that's w- when they do, it won't be Near's infrastructure that changes. It will just be the narrative around it.It's not the code. It's the coordination. In every Web 3.0 ecosystem, we repeat the mantra, anyone can contribute. However, in practice, contributions are filtered through social consensus, institutional bottlenecks, and the implicit value of the core teams. This week's dev updates offered a rare glimpse into how well that's actually going.Nearn Report, open work, open pay. This week, the Nearn freelance platform has shown that there's over 122 active contributors over the past 14 days with over $400,000 in total earned and 115 new submissions this week. These aren't just starter bounties.Contributors are tackling core SDK bugs, writing guides, improving developer onboarding, and that means 2 things. There's enough structure to support deep work. There's enough upside to keep contributors coming back. The insight here is that Nearn is involving into a decentralized governance mechanism for dev attention, not just a job board. What that means is by rooting meaningful work through open contribution pipelines, Nearn is accomplishing what many DAOs and job boards struggle to achieve, sustaining momentum without relying on top-down control.Wrath Finance, chain abstraction turns into UX infrastructure.Wrath high speed relayer, now integrated with Near, is more than just infra. It's the execution layer for chain signatures, gases transactions, multi-token support, multi-chain UX with 0 wallet switching. This stack, Wrath plus Intents plus Near chain signatures, is the invisible architecture of chain abstraction. The insight here is that Wrath's true value is temporal. It reduces the time to product for any multi-chain app by removing complexity at the protocol level.By addressing the challenging problems upfront, such as gas abstraction, signature routing, Wrath compresses both the developer timeline and user friction simultaneously. It doesn't just simplify workflows, it makes multi-chain UX possible at consumer speed, which is what the next billion users will demand.Near docs revamp, not just better navigation, a strategic rewrite. The Near developer docs are being redesigned.Dropdown menus to level nav, focus on guides over tutorials, simplifying onboarding for AI intense and chain signatures, the long term plan of unifying docs.near.org and dev.near.org.This isn't cosmetic. It's content architecture for the age of composable protocols. The insight here is that if Near makes its docks both discoverable and modular, it can onboard AI agents and devs alike without reeducation. That's the frontier.Developer docs that don't just teach humans, but can also train machines.Modular structured content means LMS and agents can parse and navigate the ecosystems autonomously, setting Near up as an early home for AI native dev tooling.Near treasury app.Cross-chain DAO coordination abstracted.A major unlock, DAOs on Near can now manage Eth, Sol, Bitcoin, Ton, and more, by unified interface using intents and NPCs.No wallet, no switching wallets, no bridging, no signing on external chains. This effectively makes Near a control layer for cross-chain treasury ops.The insight here is that treasury tools are in most ecosystems centralized by accident.Near's approach decentralizes power by extracting friction. This combination is rare.DAOs need to get operational sovereignty, no need for multi-sigs on every chain, while this is maintaining a seamless UX.This positions Near not just as an amp chain, but as a strategic coordination hub for a decentralized capital.Final thoughts. This week isn't just about features, it's about permissionless agency.Near is designing systems that make it easier to show up and make a difference without waiting for permission or a grant. It reminds those building velocity compounds.A doc contributor unlocks AI onboarding, a freelance relayer test becomes part of Near's SDK, a small PR today turns into the next library tomorrow.Near isn't winning with noise, it's winning with tool, incentives, and systems that reward people who quietly fix what's broken. If you want to contribute, the tools are there. Now it's just about what you ship next. This has been issue one of NDNA.If you like what you heard and you want to hear more, please subscribe on the platform of your choice, and we'll see you next week.","transcript_synced_at":"2026-11-03T03:51:26.420Z","segments":[{"start_seconds":5,"text":"July 11th, 2025.I'm Joe from Near Dev Hub, and welcome to NDNA Issue 0.Before we get started,
