is always um like either scary or boring or whatever so we will uh wake up everybody we will have some fun for the next 10 uh 15 minutes I will try to explain what was happening in our industry from the perspective of being uh Whitehead so uh my name is dimma buurin I'm Co and co-founder of haken We Are in security space from 2017 in web3 security space we are living in Lisbon and we are ukrainians so um generally our industry um have three four main players uh hackers uh who are basically using their technical skills to um make uh advantage and steal money fraudsters these are the guys who are Bas creating some fraudulent schemes and scers who just Str pulling uh retail investors and the web 3 space is uh a small little kitten um so we start our first fight and the first fight after our lunch uh we we are basically we are um we came from uh cyber security web 2 and our main uh Target was to work with the cryptocurrency exchanges and uh the way they were operating for us it was like like hey guys like do you really like trust your crypto to these guys nobody even knows like whether they are like using your money or like buying Villas or whatever like they absolutely untransparent and we started to like make um different researches about uh cryptocurrency exchanges and our ambitious was was to reveal that they are all like not all but majority are very scammy uh so uh we start to to make research on the fake volume if someone remember like do we have ogs here uh any OG okay maybe a little bit so OG means that they remember those while 2017 16 15 where basically the coin market cap was just showing you know like uh this exchange have 10 billions of volume and another ones just appear say I have 20 billion of volume and that was just not even the was trade it was just API number numbers that they were given to exchanges and this is how exchanges were selling listings giv marketing and that was all of course and we uh make researches that were uh quite significantly spread all over the industry and almost all the media wrote about it and coin Market capup uh uh for that time Brandon chz the guy who never showed in public uh get back to me and he asked what the hell what the what the hell are you doing like why you are like uh uh saying Co market capup and fraud in the same sentence but in the end we agreed that yeah something needs to change and we implemented adjust and trading volume together with coin market capup and then we formed the data accountability Alliance that basically right now is uh the uh the reason why we we have some rules in the coin geek coin Market capup volume metrics but and yeah and we thought okay so we can uh make a lot of you know like uh bold researches and we can influence the industry and let's try to reveal some other uh scum inside uh uh some other scum and we started like to uh Target frers and uh then we aligned our uh forces together with ether scan and Crystal that time in 2018 there was no data available on the labeling of the ex exchanges wallets we were gathering hot and cold wallets with the community to understand the ranking of the exchanges and we get to certain result which uh actually showed that some of the like not not aend but some Asian exchanges they really don't have uh enough uh balances of crypto and why because they were sending people's crypto to other exchanges to use their liquidity and that was like really really a scaming and we were dreaming about it we like we have a pretty decent Partners you know like it was the time when ether scan started to label the exchanges wallets and a lot of researches a lot of you know and there was a series of big failures it was uh uh I don't know three four exchanges that collapsed in 2018 and in the end it's uh um finished with quadriga sex people if you didn't see the movie about quadrio CX I really recommend you it's it will explain you how the how people can fraud uh by being a COO of cryptocurrency exchanges and unfortunately even quadrius 6X it didn't work out to nothing and we were experiencing and seeing how FTX um money were like decreasing decreasing and unfortunately you know like everybody is uh ended up like I ended up losing a little bit money at FTX uh we we we we're experienc in this very cold winter because of this uh fake veggie Guy and um yeah uh now he's in prison and I'm very happy for that uh but again like you know uh that battle wasn't won we still don't have transparency of the cryptocurrency exchanges all the proof of reserves that are being released by uh a lot of exchanges they are they irrelevant because there is no uh proper validation of the liabilities of those uh exchanges so we we again shifted our attention and focus on what we can do the best is cyber security helping projects to become protected from hacker attacks and um yeah and our next U like like product that we released it was uh ranking of the exchanges based on their cyber security and this time we um we we ranked like 500 exchanges we did a huge thousands of hours of research to do this ranking and the result was that coin geka have implemented this ranking and the trust score of coin geka of every exchange still has our data 20% and uh this made a real effect on the industry because suddenly exchanges uh started to want to have a proper trust score and they start to buy penetration test this Market appeared they start to run the bu bounties and in fact uh if you look right now at the Haw in 2019 2018 most of them were they were relevant to exchanges and right now um exchanges are not hacked so many times and like basic uh number of uh how how less it is is around three four times decrease and we're very proud of it and yeah and another very important thing that we started to invest much more in building a community back Bounty community and hick and proof is uh is the place where 25,000 hackers are working and yeah we are paying bounties and there was a nice story about us cooperating with near and Aurora and our uh hackers were able to find few criticals uh that can make a very serious damage to near like the approximate uh damage could be like half a billion dollars and it was timely fixed and uh after that we run a very complicated very like big audit of the all new ecosystem and the result is that the results were phenomenon uh the uh in average we found at least two and a half criticals per each blockchain protocol the result of NE protocol is zero even uh medium bugs and I can like as a cyber security professional and uh uh C of haken I can say that near protocol is in our opinion the most safest among all the uh that we have in the industry uh okay so um yeah something about us in the end yeah so this is hacking like big picture um we we we already worked with a lot of big Brands and right now we are ready for the next let's say battles that we want to uh uh that where we want to fight and again like the the enemies are the same frosters scammers and hackers uh to fight scammers what we see is the Next Big Thing uh is uh to economic Audits and uh uh investments in education and um like we still lack of proper uh onchain data to verify toonomic supplies for example uh you still don't know if the uh token Supply is inflated uh because of the bridges and uh we still don't even know what is the exact number of ether uh in the circulation suppli so there are still a lot of gaps and uh project owners they are manipulating with that and they are keep inflating and uh basically um selling tokens on retail and dumping the prices so tokenomics and especially of existing economics audits is crucial uh the name uh the next thing that I want to say is that we are uh We've we put a lot of efforts into building standards uh and the main two things that we are working right now is under ethereum Enterprise Alliance where we already built e trust standard uh which is uh the security standard of smart contract and uh it's been built by by most of the prominent it's a collective affort the second is that we are building the standards for Dey protocols like especially dis reporting disclosures and it's going to be a very big and complicated job to push the standard again we will need uh not only probably coin Market cup coin geek but other aggregators of course Community to keep asking for like please uh your protocol we want this information this information so defil Lama can be also a partner and another thing is cryptocurrency security standard is the way um the private keys are stored the way the infrastructure of the custodial is being set up so that we don't have any anymore uh you know this uh stupid uh hugs of through the fishing of admin personal that when they are losing the private keys of uh users where they uh of their clients another is of course hackers U again we have U quite similar problems here is that um that the we still don't know the completeness when when we know that that the project uh has done a security audit we still like rely okay maybe the uh like uh the we see the brand we see okay they did two audits but in fact uh 60% cases the audit is done on some part of the code or the code was or the audit was done on the code that was furtherly changed or like even extreme situation which is happening like 15% of the times the project is doing audit on one code and then deploy like the different one and this is the reality right now and still there is not no like you know security dashboard where you can uh check every audit and the completeness of uh the job security job done and that's another way where we want to put our efforts because once again we're very big uh web three enthusiasts and we want our industry to be secure uh another thing this is already like completely the future of web three security we believe that um in exchange for audits there will be a new uh standard to have uh certain circuit breakers for every uh Dey protocol or any like protocol that have money and this circuit breakers they work in pair with a powerful onchain um monitoring and preventive tools so it means that the there is a SAS product that is monitoring the smart contracts like real time and once there is is some malicious activities it uh uh does some specific things that like prevents uh to drain the the funds uh this one is another our big R&D um let's go to the next one um okay I don't have a lot of time yes this is where we will place all the information about the uh security dashboards and again in the end I just want to highlight once again that the main fight is is still against frosters and it's still against uh centralized exchanges they are not doing the proper proof of Reserve they there is no way right now to verify this proof of Reserve centralized exchanges they are they are banks they absolutely Banks but the difference between uh Banks and them is that they are not uh reporting on their their capital adequacy and the fact is that uh there are still a lot of exchanges and we have proofs so for example me XC exchange that they are sending uh the tokens of their customers to other exchanges uh it's still uh not like uh a big news in our industry uh and we want to change it of course we need to uh fight with centralized exchanges and we need to make them more transparent but before that the last
