like so so hello everybody this is a weekly bridge team sync today is 19th of march and uh we are ready to share with you lots of really exciting news so i'm going to share my screen i have a pretty i think that we have quite a lot of info to share today so let's uh let's review our agenda as always going over the uh the current goal um some some updates from from all of the members and then we are going to go into directly into the discussion uh where i have lots of informational topics here to share with you guys um and also some additional things here the ledger book hashimoto bug brisbaneyour.org landing page discussion uh do you have anything that you think we should put in in this list marcelo here yes yes sorry it was muted uh i think we can discuss about the the right now the bridge is in trusted mode maybe we will discuss this later yeah i think there is the hashimoto oh yeah oh sorry that's there okay cool if anything will pop up um let's discuss this too so um in terms of status so last week we were discussing the gas limiting issue uh it was solved uh at the same day uh or maybe the next day so it was sold over the weekend and um well the specific was that we need to manage the gas uh pretty carefully so for all of the calls for all the uh callbacks uh is enough gas on the near side preserved so we needed to to put there some additional asserts and check in with the profiling tool how much gas does it take for some of the computations and once we've done it the gas limiting issue was solved so all good two factor authentication is working now on the front end this is uh this was one of the pieces of the front end that needed to be solved this was done in the most recent uh wallet update and actually i'm going to add here info wallets update so as a wallet team fixed this and now they introduce also some additional changes to support the british release and because of this we are proud today to announce to you that um the breach was released and uh now everybody is able to use it everybody is able to to try it out um the breach has now support of the version of erc20 tokens two near no that's the most uh common thing to do there are lots of tokens that are already deployed there uh so you can you can try out by yourself and this was done on monday um last week while this week and everyone was able to do it with a command line interface but right now right here right now we are making the front end of the bridge available for the usage and i'm going to show you in in several minutes how it looks like it looks right now and what are the specific limitations that we discovered uh just recently with the frontend so uh planned items uh i need actually to to copy it from there i will not copy because the main the main items were around launching the bridge launching the front end and then doing some thin uh some things for um for uh the f connector and kirill would be able to update us on this so um let's go directly into weekly updates uh so what i was doing uh mainly i was supporting the the bridge launch that was uh that was really a pretty intense week with with multiple stuff um bridge launch with marcella i was also adding some metadata to bridge tokens uh i was coordinating the marketing i would say the rollout of the bridge and adjacent projects some of some of these you will see there uh and there are more lots of lots of them to come yeah and this was like the main thing that i was doing um so all about the bridge launch a really really busy week i was almost not focusing on the evm uh this week let's update from my side marcel what you can say well big part of the week was about doing operations about the bridge lunch definitely that took quite some time a lot of book fixing a lot of features that need to be added to the to the way we were deploying uh i don't know a lot of testing about it so yeah mostly everything related to the bridge launch this week that was the main focus oh which deployment does not mean it and also actually we deploy same bridge and wraps into yeah that's cool um uh how are you kenny how are you today this week i was mostly working on yet a hash proof bug that we discovered on monday so the problem with it has proof is that it doesn't work i think it has proof so i have now have my own implementation of the generation of a miracle tree for dead so i already tested it for epoch zero it produces the same root hash as is present in the json file in rainbow bridge repository so probably most is it is mostly implements mostly the same thing as the city hash proof program that we use in rainbow bridge so soon we'll probably be able to use this my program to generate proofs and to check so the problem we don't we have a contract that doesn't accept the proof and we don't know what's wrong the proof or the checking code in the contract so once i have another implementation we can be able to better debug to find the actual place where the bug is present okay cool um do we want to to discuss something else on eating hash proof bug because uh this is one of the uh lists in the agenda uh i know that skill you have been working on it too yeah that's correct so on my side i i also uh spent quite a bit of amount of time debugging 18 euro layer and i was able to generate like more than 100 blocks using it hash proof uh programs though i noticed that for some blocks the ath proof panning but i didn't check exactly why it doesn't generate proof for some blocks uh but for others do because as far as i know evgeny told that he will implement his uh own doug little generator and that's great that we have this uh but uh one thing i noticed with the ath h2 that for some block uh for example uh when i tried to generate the pool for the block like 300 for the epoch 300 for the epoch 400 uh these were different from those in the rainbow bridge so like for first 100 blocks 100 epochs story generated by egh it has proof matched the rainbow bridge so this hashes in the e-books start to diverge somewhere later like uh after 100 blocks i believe that even maybe close to 200 epochs so is this already tested is this something do you have so so there is a divergence between what the hash proof now generates and what it is in the in the file yeah some uh some caches yes some of them diverge because uh sequentially generating using each proof takes a huge amount of time and i so far generated like about 120 uh merkle roots for epochs but when i generate just a dark miracle root for a single epoch like 400 or 300 i noticed some diversions in this uh i mean didn't check maybe that's because this ath proof requires that all previous blocks need to be generated sequentially and if not some hashes could be different uh but that's great that we have another reference tool from evgeny is currently pretty slow so for the first like for epoch 0 it takes like maybe 20 minutes to generate root hash and for further epoch it takes more proportional to the size of dag so for epoch 511 it's like five times more and in between it's like linear linearly increasing so maybe i'll need to spend a bit of time optimizing it and then if we need to do it faster we can just start recipe no no do with lots of cpus and make it parallel and it will generate what we need this is this is this is what i want to this is what i wanted to to propose to you let's let's let's do it why not uh we have lots of time let's upload that code to google cloud and just run it there in a high performance machine this is a code that needs to be executed only once it's exactly so if we want to generate not just roots but the proof it's proves itself we need to generate some auxiliary data which is so basically to to not have to regenerate the entire miracle tree you need to generate and store some intermediate nodes in this tree and currently i don't have a code for that so i'll need to write so currently my code don't generate roots just to check that everything is correct did you share that code can you share it is it in a repository yes i can put it after those yeah uh let's do the following yeah so we have lots of stuff to discuss here so let's let's wrap this up the following way i proposed uh evgeny to uh upload the code to uh some kind of repo in aurora is near el giste yeah nice better uh why why won't you once you used to want to use our new github org um i think i don't have permission to create repositories in there i've added there well it's not the file it's it's the it's the code it's one file at the moment okay one file uh and how you build it from command line yes well let's go source file just run it we'll go with the run no need to build okay gotcha uh okay upload the code and as i said it works very slow as well uh so i don't think that there are a lot of space for optimization though for sure it makes sense if you can make some and also is is it possible using your tool to generate the dark dark miracle roots uh for example for the epoch 300 to the epoch 400 so we will have currently the only thing is that it can do is to generate miracle root for epoc and where n is a constant in the code so you can change the constant to generate miracle root for any e-book and that's what it can all that it can currently do oh that's great what i suggest is that we can uh so in for the rainbow bridge test uh we have the block that corresponds to the epoc uh 401 and uh i especially checked uh what is the doug merkel rules uh for this uh by using eth hash proof uh and it's diverged so what i suggest is that we can generate uh the dagmar code using your tool for the epoch 401 and to check whether this much either hh proof or the one dagmarco that we have in the rainbow bridge repository true we can try to do it okay who who would who would do this because yeah kirill would you be able to do this would you be able to to take the ownership on this on this part here to check the the diversions uh on uh epoch with the uh code from eurekane cool yeah cool uh let's get back to the to the to the weekly update so kirill uh for sure you have been working on the hash proof but yeah uh that takes uh most time uh but i also was supporting for a little bit for a bridge deployment uh helping pick their money back things with pierre on some of them on monday also this week i think the with getting a foundation on the th connector and we discussed possible issues and solutions uh with the norway cd and now sdk approach that eugene is currently using for the implementation system for the evm and we also at the beginning of the week we thought that we can possibly test something with an ostgh connector but this doesn't work at the moment so it's in the process as well and uh i believe that evgeny will update us on the evm call today um i also does mean that this this this pull request is is dropped so it's not passing all the tests yeah it's it's not working correct which one uh number 10 that's connected number 10 the no std implementation yeah i think so and uh as you can see evgeny also requested some review on this vr yeah so i believe he will update us uh i also worked this week on the preparation of the ath connector demo and i am writing with me for the hgh connector so it will be easier for us internally to get some instructions uh how to test this and this will be uh similar to the bridge test in uh like you did for the erc20 rainbow token connector and i i added to the svr number nine i believe some scripts for better usability some cleanup and refactoring and i also deployed the eth connector both sides both near and the egh site on the test net on the near side and robson on the adh side is this connector working uh yes so i said that i can successfully deposit and withdraw in both control cool that's that's nice uh we we have just deployed the bridge and now we have some additional connectors that are working with it which is cool um i still need to test this thing so i i did on the i i started to test it did only the deposit uh the half of the deposit so on the feed website uh but yeah i'm really excited to try it out especially when this pull request is going to be merged and actually i believe there is well some help will be needed here so this code is mostly the uh the the code for you can take a look here this is the changes in solidity and also some javascript code for testing and stuff like that and with hard hats some additions to the hardheads and you know lots of lots of other stuff so um i'm wondering who would be able to to help with the review of this code i want to do it it's not a big pull request it's it's only five and this and six k lines of code but the majority of it obviously is is not the source code yeah the majority i believe the updated log file yeah yeah i can review it you can take a look uh i i wanted to check whether pierre do you do you want to to do this next week or i don't know because we at some point in time discussing whether that you would most probably would like to take a look at the salinity things and this time um i think we might still have some front-end things to fix next for sure yeah okay no problem no problem uh me evgeny kapoor do you think we can you can help here i think i will focus on the bridge i think it's more important for us to have a bridge working by the way my program just finished computing the miracle route for the epoch 511 so it is different from what we have in our json unlike ebook zero i can see you can even post so cool okay uh then uh then i'm returning back here well this is the value that my program computed maybe someone if you can check compare with something else but from what they said y511 because it's the last epoch that we have in our json file so we have from zero to five eleven epochs from zero to five eleven um okay cool so you again is going to focus on this yeah uh you mentioned that it tries to generate uh the proof for the ath connector using your uh generate proof script code yeah i think i think we can discuss this uh outside so there is some kind of bug there but uh let's discuss this outside i i believe that's only about replacing the connector api json file i replaced this and i replaced the name of the i changed the name of the event uh something else okay uh so i've been putting here marcella to review uh cool uh pierre yeah uh so this week was uh all about preparing the front end for release um initially working on error handling making sure that we don't have transfers that stop in the middle uh and then working on the two main new features which are the recovery of loss transfers and the deletion of transfers from the completed transfers list and that's it and i and wallet connect is also um working and tested with mere mass mobile so that's also an option that we have cool uh matt uh hi to you we were we were uh we were not giving you an ability to say hello to all of the viewers uh last time sorry for this i was focusing too much on the release say hello to everybody hello everybody yeah and um what you were doing during this week um well at the very beginning of the week i just helped a little bit with the press release and um and then after that i was pulled away to the uh to the amm project uh to meet with bowen shin to maybe help ideate a little bit on on ideas for bootstrapping the liquidity of the of the amm and then at the end of the week well last week i did a preliminary review of the bridge and posted some uh some notes and feedback about that and now what i'm what i want to do or what i'm doing is just stepping back from that and and thinking more about the bridge as a as a complete product and i'm starting a document with um user requirements design requirements um workflows edge cases for the broader uh you know for the bridge is a broader product including the the eventual transfer of native tokens um thinking also about how to eventually include the evm in that and um that's that's what i want that's what i intend to continue working on that document yeah that's cool that's cool uh well that's that's super nice if we're talking about this um i think that uh well we obviously can talk more about this on monday but i think you're doing pretty good job here uh with uh with the with the front end um and with the the review so many of the things that you have suggested we included in the into into the current front end so let's go um okay uh a little bit on the topics here i'm just going to to copy it here so bridge release yeah so it's done uh and everyone is able to go at this rebel uh soon it's going to be moved inside of the near orc but this wrapper at the moment contains the correct addresses on the near and ethereum site connectors and clients and also it has a correct script for for doing ethereum to neuro transfers and near the run transfers so all of this is tested already with multiple people um everything is working right now oh cool uh so you can use it right here right now the costs uh of the transfers just for your information um since the most important one are because on the ethereum side uh there is an erc20 approve call which can be done only once if you would like to transfer the same token multiple times it's just an ordinary rc20 approve call and there is also a lock call which which takes a little bit more than an ordinary year c20 transfer call so uh so this is uh these these are very low at the moment uh they are something like uh i don't know 15 bucks uh entity rims unfortunately 15 uh because of the high gas phase the transfer back uh has consumes a little bit more of gas because of the need for chicken the proof of the withdrawal transaction so that's it please use we actually are able to to take a look at explorer right here right now you can see that there were already 33 transactions happening with the the factory bridged near which is a a contract that is managing all of the tokens on the near side so there are some people that are doing these so that's that's that's pretty cool you can try you can try right right here right now uh the second thing that i want to show to you here is the front end uh and this is this be this would be most probably more important for uh for the wide community um and the front end you are able to get on the url ethereum dot bridgetoner.org all of our bridges are going to be hosted on this uh domain name so robsten bridge is hosted on robston.bridgetoner.org and rinkeby eventually is going to be because they don't drink a bit that bridgestone here.org and this is if you if you are looking closely to our updates um there were some changes uh uh in comparison to how the trans or how the front end was looking in the in the test net however it is pretty clean and clear we are going to i'm going just to show you um i'm just going to show you some some simple some simple flow here so i have connected my account on ethereum i'm connecting my account on near uh yep why not i'm account i'm connecting my account here okay i'm connecting the wrong account um cool so i'm doing it right here right now and um in the bridge you would be able uh to do this transfer so you you can you can check what what the token that you are able to send as you can see there are lots of the pre-deployed tokens that you are able to use uh which is cool so for example i can transfer usdt and i can transfer 100 usdt or no 100 is too much and let's transfer 10 and and it actually shows me that i already have a balance of 200 of transfer tokens because i was doing this uh because i was doing this before so i can approve the transfer and now several transactions are happening on the on the meta mask so first one is is the proven and you would be able to see the steps that that you would need to do as you can see there is a functionality for deleting the transfer there is a functionality for restoring the transfer uh in case something went bad and for example this is this is very important for for the cases when you are increasing the gas uh for the transaction uh so ethereum is able to consume it so this functionality is also added here uh and also yes so we can go i'm going to show you like uh the the lock-in theme so i'm just looking uh looking 10 usdt on my on my account on the connector account uh once the transaction is there we would need to wait for some confirmations on the ethereum site for security and then we would be able to deposit these and use these tokens yeah one additional thing that i wanted to mention to everybody and this is in the list that we have opened uh a uh official telegram support channel um so if you have any questions with regards to how the bridge is working uh why something is not there why something is not working uh then you can go here to and you can go and check out our support telegram chair channel uh all of the bridge team is going to be eventually added to this channel at the moment it's only me and marcel there but but we are going to be there we are going to help you with all of the transfers we are going to help you to unstuck your funds in case um something is going wrong this then i'll have a handle i think this link is an invite link but why not make a public handle channel instead uh i don't know uh well we potentially can't do this how to do this yeah i can't convert it to a polygroup later i just need to go inside that group first oh yeah okay okay so so maybe i did i did some not the wrong thing yeah so i need to convert the group into into public group yeah and it will allow you to put uh okay yeah uh well we can do it right here right now why not group type private okay gotcha so this is the the public group cool and uh and i even can can say uh what's okay support uh what i can yeah so i'm going to going to convert it so no problem i would do this we're going to change the link here um later uh you still can do it see waiting for for the transfer to happen um the uh confirmations amount for the main net is set to 20 so it means that the transfer from ethereum to near will be happening somewhere around five minutes because uh 20 blocks and ethereums are generated uh like around five minutes so this is one ethereum transaction this is another ethereum transaction five minutes and almost instant near transaction you would be able to see it a little bit later so one additional thing that i would like to show you is the dashboard and potentially this is this can be interesting for the people that are uh tracking some stats around the bridge uh we are going to to expand this and show more information here so this is what you can see this is the near so everything it's just the beginning so we're going to add lots of uh other stuff here but now this is the dashboard where you are able to see the amount of the transactions that were coming in uh through the bridge what is the total license position usd so at the moment it's not that much however we are working on increasing this bridge users this is the the graph in time how this how the how the things are were breached yeah and some some additional information into transaction codes output transaction count you know uh so this dashboard is going to be uh is going to be extended big thanks to vadim's overdeal to start working on this uh we already can you already can go there june analytics dot com slash somebody else's rainbow bridge uh lots of additional metrics will be added here and i think at some point in time uh if you would be able to upload the information from the near side there we are going to expose here also the nearside matrix which would be interesting too um cool uh yeah just for everybody um if you will go to to near wallet uh then you will be able to see some additional information here so this is a new update that was done by wallet uh team so kudos to them for doing this they are now tracking the amount of tokens of fungible tokens that have been placed uh in in the specific account so at the moment uh these three things are hard coded uh banana rampnear and and die and this is actually a bridge die address as you can see here so so this account has the same address as an ethereum dot factory dot bridge dot near um so so these at the moment are hard coded but soon uh but one team is working on first of all to enable transfers of fungible tokens uh because at the moment these are just just the numbers you cannot interact with this you cannot you cannot send or uh or receive tokens these fungible tokens and second what they are working on is dynamical uh tracking of all of the fungible tokens uh that you are going to own this is going to be done using some indexer so indexer will track when the user when the the contracts of the fungible token standard are going to be deployed and uh then when the user when some of the transactions will result in uh receiving of these tokens by a user so um here the user experience eventually in several weeks will be uh super cool or at least this is how i understand this because users will not be required to enter the token name as you need to do it in metamask so if some of you uh sometime were trying to you were trying to make your metamask wallet to show you some token balances you need to enter the the address of this token and uh well it's just some some additional steps that you need to go through so here everything will be automated and uh again big kudos to to the near wallet team um yeah coming to the ledger bug okay so this is something interesting uh and uh maybe some of you have noticed this giant blue thing on top of the bridge of our bridge front end and let me go a little bit in detail here so at the moment if you are trying so actually we convinced so we can actually finalize the transfer uh let's do it it's not going to take lots of time um so redirection to nearby it may take a little bit of seconds i'm just low in this and the minton transaction is sent to the near blockchain and it's going to be confirmed in a couple of seconds uh hopefully yeah it's done now you can see that i have a transfer that is completed often use the t how cool is that um super fast uh you don't need to wait anything uh well we potentially can check the transactions what was the cost uh super fast and now i can use this usdt on on here yeah so coming back to to ledger uh protected wallets so if you have a near wallet uh where as a place where you're holding the key the full access key to your account you use a ledger device then unfortunately this wallet is not able to sign this last transaction that you were seeing just right now the reason for this is the internal limitations of ledger device because we are not able to put in that device uh the proof of the of the of the event of this this converting or locking of the tokens on the ethereum site and unfortunately this is like a fundamental bug and a fundamental uh obstacle here and in order to to to deal with it we would need to to change the way how users are interacting with our smart contracts however at the moment there is a quick uh quick solution for those of you who uh who have uh have the um linear account with ledger uh you are able to create an additional near account login to same with this new account to the same front end you will see the transfer that is not yet completed and you would be able to sign the finalization transaction and the reasons why you can't do this is that the logic of this final finalization in near side transaction is that it doesn't require a descender of the transaction be the recipient of the tokens which is super cool so you can do this and this and here is an additional update for you actually um yeah we have done and again uh vadim's odile helped us to do this and uh also a big thanks uh to guys from paris who are hosting this so now you have a near faucet for ethereum holders so everyone who is having uh some effort on their account and they do not have a simple and clear way how to uh how to get some near tokens because newer tokens now are trading only on centralized exchanges and some people do not have an access to the exchanges so what they can do right here right now is to go to faucet.paris.adm and claim they're near account so if you are going to log in with metamask to this website i'm just just doing this this thing right here right now uh uh okay so i already claimed sorry i i was testing this stuff before so so there is a if you have a ethereum address with enough ether on it so we're just checking that you have enough funds to you know to operate with the bridge uh you are able to create account uh on year and you are able to again stay in the rainbow bridge uh well you are able to use the rainbow bridge you are able to say to sign multiple transactions on the near side so uh so this is a quick solution for the um for the for the bridge uh ethereum bridge near.org uh this is this is a quick fix for um for those of you who have the ledger protected words uh yeah but i would like to spend spend several minutes uh on this a little bit in detail so the ledger bug so you can see that it is located here yeah so this is it literally so perhaps someone was able to read through this um actually i've checked whether the transfer back is working with metamask because we're assigning there um the also lots of information and it works it works with with ethereum uh application uh yeah so we have so i see two potential ways of solving the problem here first one is that we need to change change the inside of the methods inside of the deposit method uh which one is signed by user we need to change the following thing we are not going to put there a proof itself but but instead we are going to put there a hash of the proof while we are going to add also additional methods for recording the proofs and proof is recorded checked whether it is valid and then it waits and this can be done by third party and then the third party is uh is and then the user is calling deposit and the user pays a little bit more and some portion of the funds comes back to the party that was recording the proof so the in in with this with this flow our user is going to reimburse um somebody who have recorded the proof on behalf of him this can be done by our backhand uh or there is another way how to do this we are not changing anything with the contracts but uh but we have an additional multisig contract where again the this multisig contract is doing the phone there is a recording of the proof uh which is done by our backend or somebody else and then the user is signing with the ledger the approval and then this multisig contract is called in our contract uh with the correct values with the correct information this approach is also good and maybe it is even better because we are separating this logic and we are not changing anything in the current logic of how our contracts are working so yeah maybe maybe someone was able to take a look into it and has some ideas what we should do with it i think if we are relying on third party to actually does this transaction we can remove all the recording step because it will add a lot of complexity to our contract and just uh rely on the third party to submit our transaction maybe via another contract that just makes some deposit and when the body actually makes the the call yeah but the good thing yeah but the good thing about the both of these boss of these approaches is that uh is that the user eventually pays for all of the gas costs yeah yeah my approach user also pays for the gas the the point is that we do not add this complexity into the into the average contract yeah exactly one good thing about deposit is that it doesn't matter who calls it like the recipient is uh already in the proof itself or on the event so so whatever whatever party can call this method the body that is called this method only needs to check that it can claim some reward so like the user is going to pay for it yeah and that can be implemented in some separate repository maybe not it doesn't need to be ad hoc for the bridge we can make something at hog for the bridge for the moment but in the future we can have like some contract that accepts uh so it seems like you're supporting the second option yeah like a separate separate contract that is doing the same stuff uh okay so yeah yeah you want to say something yeah i wanted to discuss a little bit about leisure but if we don't have some time today we can discuss it yeah let's discuss it on monday we need to we need to we need to deal something with it because obviously the flow for the for the users that own ledger at the moment is is not very convenient um yeah i i mean what do we know the size of the proof that doesn't fit pleasure uh well we can calculate uh but in general ledger has a very very low amount of uh of ram if i remember correctly it was either one or two megabytes long so it was pretty long okay yeah so this is the one two megabytes yeah oh yeah then there's a problem because as far as you know uh the ledger for the nana s has like about 10 kilobytes of user ram and nana which is quite more powerful comparing with the nano s but yeah has as well as only like 50 kilobytes of ram yeah yeah it's pretty large compared to the i'm on the front yeah so well actually you don't have to to hold all the data in ram to check that you can so actually with this kind of devices you can use incremental hashing to essentially to hash to stream data to the ledger to have a computer hash and without holding all the data at once so that there is little rom is not by itself a hard limitation you can so it can't display that much data on the screen of course because there is not enough screen space but it actually can like compute a hash or a signature of uh lars such a large transaction but i'm wondering from a security point of view if the ledger actually allows this like if you're going to submit a transaction if instead of passing the full uh argument only i've i've read the docs uh of ledger and they have some strict uh well they have some best practices i would say so they have some guidance uh and what they do is that they are actually they're checking the apps before they are going to be received the mark ledger approved and some additional use to all of you who is watching this video um is that a near ledger application just received uh the ledger approved status so now you can you can get it not from the experimental modes or for the for suited for the developers but it was approved by the ledger team so that's cool and obviously if
