everyone my name is amos i'm the founder of metalwab dc it's my great pleasure to join all of you guys here today i near khan to introduce you guys about our fund why we're investing in your ecosystem one as a founder you should be building on here a little bit about myself so i was pretty much a zero entrepreneur with background in product marketing and business developments uh currently in my in addition to my involvement at meta lab i'm also the gm of asia and near you know leading the operations here in asia across marketing business development software development product development were also temporarily helping near foundation uh in managing its global marketing efforts so before near i was the founder and executive uh as a few vc back startup in the field of public change stablecoin based payments as well as sas 2. um i started in crypto officially in around 2015 um but with doing so i also get a chance to work with some of the largest enterprises in the world such as taobao we work youtube etc i graduated from brown university with a bachelor degree in economics as well as a master degree in engineering so let's get started why you should be building on your program so for those of you who are not familiar with near near is the pos uh layer 1 public chain it's certified carbon neutral it's very very scalable and also quite user friendly so there's essentially uh three reasons why it should be down here and let's start with the the more technical one so uh near is really unique in the sense that as a public chain it offers one of the greatest compatibility for all type of developers there are essentially three environments down here which are near native aurora and octopus network let's start with near native open web-based platform and also what we originally started so one of the most known and convenient advantage of the mirror is its ability to scale nir uses a novel uh mechanism called sharding um nightshade sharding technology uh to scale the null horizontally uh so let's say if each shark can process up to 1000 transaction percent per second uh 10 shards meaning the nine sheet can actually process uh 10 000 transaction percent per second and uh the number of shards can actually be adjusted dynamically based on network usage so all of this really uh act as a great technology layer uh for developers to build on and you no longer as a developer have to worry about scale as limitation but in addition to the uh one of the biggest challenges for crypto is that the apps are actually quite difficult to use especially for the people who just join the industry scalability is obviously one of the issue you know that's why ethereum is kind of slow right and the gas feed is so high but on the other hand you know dealing with token you know gas fee privacy all those concepts are quite you know unfamiliar for the user which i started in crypto so that's why we're architecting here in such a way so as a developer you can even structure in your app in the sense that users don't have to deal with any of this and just can get started right away you can also you know offer progressive uh onboarding uh and security so user can increase their security level uh as they move on so really here uh near is designed to bridge the user uh from today's internet um to the blockchain-based web of future the new native platform uh nikki browntown um is um is invasive and you can write either invest or assembly script which is quite similar to javascript to build your applications here but what if as a developer you already have existing ethereum code can you just redeploy of course you can do that on all era which is the evm runtime out near essentially uh it's pretty much extreme layer 2 uh the design for 15 east users and that and that aura is actually quite compatible despite the fact that it's actually on there because you know the base token uh is actually even ease so if you're using uh something like polygon or bse uh i mean you of course you can use metamax um but as a user you still have to you know acquire a new token to be able to use the applications on the right uh but in the case of our you just need to you know open up your metamax or amp token uh using your existing east token uh select network aurora and you can actually just get started because our engine is actually taking care of the uh the tren the conversion from east to near so this is actually very cool um but last but not least uh we also have octopus network which is a substrate based uh option that will near so compared to some of the other optional work octopus we excel at offering flexibility security uh that is actually up to 100 times more cost effective than some of the competitors out there so it really really is quite developer friendly for especially the the smaller startup and people who just get started in building an app chain so those are the stream frameworks down here uh one thing i also also should mention is that since all those frameworks are on your protocol uh the asset transfer can actually be confirmed uh in one to two seconds so really this is something that no other platform can offer so all this really offers uh a great technology base uh from here for developers on year to build uh ministry adoption but more importantly by being on here you also can gain lots of upset potential because your ecosystem is still at early stage so there's still plenty of opportunities in the field of d5 gaming social apps and ft and beyond and let's look at the ecosystem growth data so with only uh slightly over a year of launching midnight near already have 1.3 million accounts on the network and still growing fast one thing to know here is that the near accounts actually cost money meaning that as a user you actually need to maintain a minimum amount of reserve in year uh to to essentially account for storage online so the data here is actually quite remarkable in addition to that there are actually already more than 40 million transactions uh generated in that as well um and more importantly uh near as network is really built for the long haul essentially by the people behind uh behind me near uh as some of you know has one of the strongest technical team in the space uh who's already over 100 full-time contributors across 10 countries of also all of those people shared a vested interest to share or to ensure you know continuous commitment in terms of like building and maintaining the network and the protocol and uh besides like just the people there are also you know multiple companies and organizations across the world to really you know try to accelerate in your ecosystem growth as an example including the near foundation near yinc uh the taxatory proximity lab and etc and because all of this reason um we decided to set up metabolic busy a global crypto firm and focusing our investment on new ecosystem and our goal is try to build uh this is to help build the next generation technology harmony ministry adoption of blockchain um as a phone uh we were pleased to offer a couple things um to um you know developers and investors uh first and foremost we actually have a quite extensive global network uh so in some in a lot of cases we're essentially acting as the bridge uh between innovation and adoption uh whether that's east to west or west to east uh as a fund we're also very research driven um because you know blockchain as as a young technology young technology uh it does still draw upon you know academic research in the field of computer science crypto cryptography economics you know finance sociology all those and you know to really see the opportunities you kind of need a team with you know multidimensional expertise and sharp document so so that's why i'm very pleased to share that most of the the folks on the phone actually everyone on the uh from the phone actually come from a very good academic background and also very experienced um um very experienced uh like software development experience or business experience uh you know in the industry uh both in web 2 uh on walk street and last but not least uh we also uh try to lean on our investment decision um to to based on you know the research uh whether that's you know tokenomics or you know technical diligence or even you know the product design of the network cool and more importantly we actually invest with the incubator approach so some of the things that we can help the entrepreneurs from our portfolio include you know marketing you know i'm a pretty experienced marketer as well as some of the other folks in the phone so we can really help entrepreneurs formulate their they go to market strategy as well as their community building strategy we can also assess projects in terms of you know formulating their tokenomics uh or help them to design their liquidity strategy um uh as a phone we also uh have actually two full-time developers uh you know to to to both to do technical due diligence but also you know uh support a team uh about helping them to build on your protocol uh last but not least we also have um a very extensive you know global network as mentioned before so really we can also try to help you use our network uh to help the the project in our portfolio to accelerate adoption cool so a couple case studies that i can share with all of you guys so let's start with aurora as i mentioned before aura is ethereum layer 2 scaling solution build on new protocol it has very good technology uh so it can scale the evm based application with average one second block time and two seconds financing so the background is that you know aurora was raising the only round off you know currently sell uh before the public launch uh because uh it has very good technology and the team is based uh in the west uh so not surprised it actually has oversubscribed interest one of some of the top western investors uh yet their largest potential user base is actually in asia so that's why already i want to strategically allocate some of their tokens to the longer term you know investor and builder who can help them accelerate early adoption here in asia so our approach here is that we first help our to build their first initial global marketing campaign how to really you know create a buzz around around around the platform we define our sound reason strategy uh here in asia we leverage our network here and essentially organize two online raw show with selected strategy investor developers and influencers in addition to the more uh business of the scene uh we also help our research developer contributing as well as cvm project source sourcing the result is that um in only two weeks of time aurora became oversubscribed in asia with actually minimum amount of effort from our team we closed strategic investment from some of the top vc and distribution partners here in asia and will also help them run to hackathon uh here in asia on behalf of you know our labs for a thousand subscribers to try to build our provide them very useful feedback and last but not least we also collect um more than 10 uh diabetes uh in asia forever so here uh mechagraph is really acting as the bridge to asia uh so um on the flip side uh options is almost like the exact opposite case um um so the octopus essentially is a team uh starting in asia as i mentioned before the network is a substrate-based app chain network on top of near protocol it offers a very cost effective you know the security of the boxing probability and the complete infrastructure for the existing sector developer to quickly deploy deploy the app chain on near with almost up to 100 times saving in terms of the cost so our team is a very strong technical team um here in asia so no surprise they have quite a big interest here but like a good way to you know to break into the business okay both in terms of you know raising their community awareness uh or rich investor so essentially what we do is that we leverage our network and introduce our foods to some of the top investors in the us uk vietnam and korea we also advise octopus on community building and marketing strategy introduce influencer and community partners globally the result is the octopus closed investment from two top funds in the u.s as well as from strategic partners in vietnam and korea will increase octopus computer size awareness by almost 10x so in this case meta web is essentially acting as the bridge to the west the last case is something different because uh the two cases before focusing more on you know the infrastructure and the protocol layer web street games is more on the application layer so webster game is actually a gaming platform uh with building sdk tools uh to really you know try to combine elements from you know d5 nft and gaming all together and really like players to take ownership of their gaming experience so the background is that as a young developer centric team uh webster really need help in terms of you know getting the business opportunity uh to really get adoption of the technology uh in the meantime webster games will also like to you know increase their awareness and improve their you know uh branding so our approach here is that we essentially pitch to talk about uh on behalf of near and west three games uh for nft collaboration we also advise uh very heavily on the actual you know product you know we actually help with product management advice on the product design you know help them to fix some of the code and doing the auditing of the code in the end um which really you know accelerated the role of the platform uh last will also help them to build essentially a global pr campaign around this type of collaboration and the result is the uh will help them secure and personal opportunity to work with taobao the largest e-commerce market marketplace in china for the very first nft cell on the top of main station we also delivered ft platform uh that allows really easy onboarding of up to users who can actually pay directly using fiat to get an eft and they don't even have to you know deal with paying gas fee um registering a wallet uh or you know remembering like the private key etc and uh using this opportunity a collaboration opportunity will also you know help web street games gain global pr coverage from some of the top media such as coin desk coin telegram chenille cena.com tencent at naver and beyond so in this case another work is actually acting as the accelerate engine for let me introduce the investment team um from medweb uh so charles mose is also a syrian entrepreneur uh with strong experience uh in the development of crypto and marketing so he was the ahead of marketing at and before that he was also the head of china and coinbase in new york city uh trust most graduated from columbia university was a master of science degree in generation on the other hand stanley is a very research trader analyst and product manager i really you know love to dive dive deep into uh you know uh tokenomics um um you know on-chain uh data and analytics as well so stanley graduated from university of hong kong as well as a master's degree from the university of chicago so that's the investment team we also have a very robust technical due diligence team from namely dobber and daniel the other is a very experienced full site developer uh and before joining near and meta lab robert actually worked as the engineering director at microstrategy robert graduated from university with a degree in computer science daniel on the other hand was actually a ceo at the startup um before joining here and before that he worked at salesforce as well as skill.com in the u.s but then from standing university as well as carnegie mellon university in computer science last but not least we also have maria supporting the operation aspect of things like metalwork so maria actually started her career in bc as well later on she also lead she also hold a manager managerial position at a crypto campaign such as nike bihu and u.s tenant the other thing that as i found very proud of is that we have a really strong research and technical diligence team uh so some of the research partner will have you know including uh ilia you know the co-founder of near and some of you
