devhub I would like to welcome you to the tools Community call if you haven't attended one yet those are informal sessions where we share updates discuss and present tooling projects from the ecosystem if you want to get involved reach out in our telegram group you have uh you can see the recordings of for previous sessions on dev hub's YouTube channel today we are joined by yal from lavet Luke from near blocks Morgan from mukashi and last but never least fro uh I am quite happy to see uh other familiar faces we see that vmir is here we he we see the heat as well I'm I'm very happy to see you all here so in the today's agenda we would start on uh with yal and yal will be providing us with a little bit of updates from and stats uh from laanet so you if you're ready yeah hey everyone really good to be here again finally after a long break uh I promise I'll try to join every call from now but no high expectations after the heas so um if if there's anybody I didn't meet here yet I'm yal I'm leading BD at magma devv magma Dev is a contributor to Lava Network somebody already raised their hand you want question yeah finish your presentation and would be oh all good sounds good so we are a contributor to lav network and lava network is um a data access layer so um we provide highly reliable uh performant RPC and and API access um I'm not going to go into all of them Mambo Jambo I just want to give you guys a quick update uh we've had really really um amazing progress within the N ecosystem we've been supporting me since February so uh over half a year now and uh we're uh seeing really cool adoption um so I'm going to show you some cool uh things we've been working on uh let's let's go for it so a few updates on the growth side we really had some really amazing D ad option DS like refinance borrow uh beat Metal wallet and a bunch of other damps are now using lava uh go for the fullest in a few slides uh we're also supporting Pagoda on the back end so essentially the main official RPC endpoint uh powered by Pagoda is routing traffic to our um endpoint in the back end and we're um as of I think it was measured last week we were supporting 50% of their public RPC end point I'm sure you're all aware that um Pagoda is eventually going to Sunset that end point in a few months so so that has been kind of part of our pration working together with Pagoda to make sure that we're able to uh support a lot a lot of their um current traffic a few other really cool stuff that we've been working on um so just to give you some context lava is a network of providers we're not you know a single we we're not running any nodes ourselves we are not like a single data provider we have a network of data providers including the top the top top of the top in the in the ecosystem all that node node is liquify a bunch of really really talented teams are working in the back end and that allows for a lot of cool features some of them are really new that we just launched so for example automatic rryy uh that we introduced last month allows you to have a lot more higher success success rate for query so let's let's say you're trying to send a query and you get a um shed uh ID error but then lava retries automatically with another provider so the chances of that query going and succeeding is a lot a lot higher with lava rather than working with a specific single data provider um also when you send a transaction lava sends that transaction to at least 10 providers at the same time so this really one makes it faster and also increases the success rate of any transaction that we sending uh through Lava rather than other providers that's also a really cool feature um we have a new dashboard coming up I'll show you in a few minutes and we have a lot of new archive notes uh that has been uh spun up over the last few weeks um so some stats this is a new statistic that we added we can now see how many unique users unique daily users are actually interacting with our endpoint uh so we just measured today 26k daily unique users uh on our public endpoint which is amazing uh over the last month we had almost 10 billion uh requests as I said we're serving uh half of bot's public RPC endpoint and no that's only that's only for near um RPC we have other ecosystem we multichain but that's only the stat for uh NE yeah that's pretty amazing I'm happy as well and 30% of those um requests are served by uh the cach uh mechanism that we have we also really improve that recently we have a double caching mechanism won't go into that but it's really cool and it's really effective um we have 70 providers currently active six of them are providing um archive and archive as you know NE archive is super heavy so Bravo to them for spinning it up um so I think you know it's fair to say that laa is becoming the go-to RPC provider for users and developers in the ecosystem as I mentioned we're seeing a lot of adoption by pagod ref Finance borrow me B mixed metor and bet uh B metor all Stak joined us today yesterday uh borrow announced yesterday today near Mobile is using us and all of the cool guys you can see on the list and there are more uh and we're working on a few cool Partnerships uh that hopefully will be live soon uh so we're very happy we're working with all of these Partners together to really improve the service whenever they have any issues we try to um solve them ASAP um we have a really cool dashboard that's coming up that's going to allow a lot more transparity for people in the ecosystem so anybody will be able to go to this page and see exact what's happening so you can see here the amount of the requests in the last day you can see how many users you can see the average latency in the last 24 hours um how many requests blah blah blah how many uh cash requests this is a new page it's not live yet it's going to be live uh hopefully very soon you can see also the type of queries that are most uh popular so uh for example these are type of queries that we can see how you know if we see like a certain type um queries are super popular we can add them to the cache so um to make things even more efficient uh and you can also see like the live map of queries coming from different geolocation um um which should give us and everybody like a sense of okay where is practic actually coming from uh if we need more support in a specific geolocation Etc when the strike 3D I'm not sure what that means um I'll just go to the last slide some stuff that we're working on um we just launch our own mayet so uh we'll be we are working with the info committee on issuing a new grant for lava uh RPC incentives one once that's over we plan to deploy those incentives on lava mayet which is uh really cool it's essentially an automatic mechanism that pays RPC providers according to the quality of their service and how much service they provide so Neil will deploy near tokens on lava's chain and then providers anyone can join it's permissionless anyone can compete over quality of service whoever provides the best service essentially wins more rewards so that's uh you know we see near as you know our main you know most important partner uh we're working together with many people in the equ consistent so we're trying to prioritize NE to be one of the first chains on our Manet um hopefully it's going to happen very soon uh we're working with daps uh to maximize du we're working on better archives adding more providers like cify uh noce Etc and we're also working on a proposal for advanced apis so maybe some of the apis that tooda is currently um um you know uh stopping work or they stopping to support those apis we might pick them up and support them via lava and one thing that's missing here uh I know Vic from near Foundation is working on a bridge uh between near and Cosmos chains via the IBC protocol and so once that's ready uh essentially LA and me will be connected and we're planning to work with ESS and Boo and all of those cool guys to allow lava liquidity to be available to the near Community which I think is really cool because we really feel that the near and lava communities are like very close um and yeah I think I I spoke enough let me know if you have any questions um I would love to also connect with anyone that I'm not already connected to uh after this call so thank you amazing this a huge growth and I assume this is not only from yeah yeah the rest of the guys congratulations and not only you but like the entire team because I'm sure pretty sure that uh there is a lot going uh into it not only from the business uh business development side of things so yeah thanks a lot youa for joining and sharing some updates with us um do we have thank you so much guys uh yeah if you have any questions um and then I might have to jump I have another Community call I'm going to oh amazing yeah B be anyway um that's that then well if there is any questions or if you want to uh ping y you can see his telegram handle he's active on telegram so you can reach him out thanks a lot you thank you so much guys I'm gonna put my telecom handle here and yeah let me know if you want to get in touch yeah next on the today's agenda we have Luke from near blocks the go-to Explorer for uh block Explorer for the near ecosystem and uh I believe that Luke also has a presentation that he would be showing us luk yeah can you hear me yes great to have you around man um so a few updates from our side um so we have some recent updates uh what we're currently working on and then um any ideas maybe that we can uh talk with the community about so um Andrew's compiled some updates for us uh so we have two new wallet Integrations uh one is with bit wallet um the second one is with metamask uh with the upcoming uh NE release uh so these are already accessible uh on the UI if you would wanted to uh to connect your wallet um check out code and stuff like that um terms of contracts so we have uh the the NEP 330 uh where you can check out metadata and source code validation um you can compile that with with cargo near um so we've I think it a few weeks ago we had a discussion with sour scan uh and they uh provided uh the means for us to to integrate so actually let me just share this presentation as well if you guys want to okay perfect thank you uh because there's a few links you can click um but yeah as you can see here on an NEP um 330 contract uh we have this UI now uh where you can compile everything um but the build command here the UI is still we might make some edits but uh everything is here so this is with sour scan that we did this which is pretty cool um besides that uh we have revamped our apis uh and there's a new pricing model which is a bit more accessible and we've also released um advertising options uh so we do have uh around well over the past couple of months on average uh around a million monthly users and 3 million page views uh so we want to give this access to to the ecosystem uh it's self-service as of now and basically there's several uh options where you can either put banners or text Etc um we don't have any clients yet but we do want to on board a few so we can get some feedback uh we'll be adding banners across the website uh in I think this week um but yeah essentially uh it's a shame that up to now we couldn't um I guess give this kind of exposure to to projects on there it's obviously a website that a lot of people visit probably the most visited website uh in the near ecosystem um we have a lot of registered users as well uh that create their accounts and stuff so we're also thinking of sending out a few newsletters uh and that can be uh that's also opportunity for exposure um but yeah free million page use is uh is pretty big uh for us um and yeah we want be able to give this uh to uh to projects in the near ecosystem besides that uh we have a new chart which is basically cutting up uh transactions per second amongst the different shards that are available uh so again open to feedback on how this presented but uh you can basically eliminate shards um and check and yeah leave and stuff like that um there's OB I don't know if you guys know about this section but there is quite a few charts that are available here in uh in this section um so again it's good to see we look at the price one uh but yeah the daily transaction chart it's obviously interesting um there's a log view as well so yeah this is maybe stuff that we don't necessarily talk about quite a lot but there's uh ongoing features um that coming up and uh The Shard view on transaction is uh is one of the latest besides that um we have moved nblocks off of uh of Boss um we were prob I think we were one of the well maybe in terms of infrastructure maybe one of the the first or the small handful of of projects that moved on to boss um it was a lot of work um but the team is quite happy uh where it's obviously easier for them just to work on um well without boss so we've moved back to it and the results in terms of of speed in general are just way better um so yeah that transition has happened uh back to uh moving forward without without boss um this is something that we haven't talked about too much as well um but we do have a light version of nblocks that's live now uh so for example it's pretty good just to check uh transactions if for example you're transferring funds and you just want to send a link for the person to verify uh that transactions are sent um they can uh just send a link like this um because you don't have all the maybe unnecessary data for for retail users uh this is we offer various rpcs here as well so maybe talking to leev Network and and push this up um but yeah this is fully available it's live uh it's also accessible from the Explorer selector uh that we just redesigned so it currently looks like this you have NX slide nlock and OB see pack speak as well um for when users want to if for example the DAP hasn't doesn't link towards one of these directly um but towards the the main Explorer well the quote unquote official Explorer they can select here um we set up monitoring as well so there's a few more stats to add in here uh but basically it's a good check for uh for up time I think it's been live since yeah end of July but um so far so good 100% uptime And we previously talking to Vic as well over the past weeks um you wanted to get an update in terms of feature parody between the various explorers and I guess analitics tools uh so we have one here against get Block um this is the list of the features that are available on web but also API uh get Block doesn't have an API but um yeah you can see uh all of these uh various features that are available on nblocks and then also uh with Pike uh seminar all of this on web and then API as well so we're quite happy we I would say we've been near some way leading the frontal features um we are obviously always looking for new features taking into uh taking Community feedback um seeing what's good for developers what's good for retail um and also referencing other ecosystems would it be the ethereum ecosystem with with EOS scan but also the Salo ecosystem with I think they have bird's eye um Soul scan Etc quite a few products so we're quite lucky to be able to be inspired by other ecosystems uh so there's a continuous mode road map of features um that's for the recent updates in terms of what's in the works we're working on Dex analytics uh so be able to look at specific trades liquidity across dexes um we are in discussions we just had a call earlier today actually with Aurora um to see what's possible is it Le taking over there Explorer or working on better integration uh for cross chain transactions Etc we want to talk about we want talk a bit more about nblocks as well on social media uh we obviously have access to all of these statistics and data so we want to be able to um to start posting about that but also feature updates because we're starting to realize that there's a lot of features on their blocks that uh people are not necessarily aware of uh so better communicating from our side uh setting up a social media plan for for Twitter and hoping for support like from near week uh even you guys at the dev Hub uh that would be great so once we we post stuff we'll share it in our groups then um yeah hoping to to get a bit more exposure there um we will be re outreaching to uh to various projects as well across the network especially for those that uh are on the BTC side uh for advertising uh across near blocks and we we have uh an ongoing request for infrastructure funding because our storage size is uh pretty crazy and we're trying to um to check in on finances uh to see what's possible there terms of open for ideas uh we still are looking for local translators uh to to get nblocks translated into um local languages uh we initially set up I think 12 to 15 languages but some of them aren't necessarily translated very well uh we're trying to Target the countries that have most users uh based off Google analytics and um yeah the ideal for us is to find um a local translator in each country to um to get the website localized and yeah again open for any ideas uh suggestions would it be now or on telegram um we have groups with all you guys I think um some of you talked to Andrew as well so yeah always open for discussion um that's it for me from the blocks thanks a lot uh first of all uh is this storage database so there is a question how big is the near book database storage requirement just curious uh we actually wrote it down I'll check him with Andrew but um currently I think it's 12 terabytes oh wow and uh but because with like test net and then backups I think the total right now is 22 terabytes total is 22 terabytes but again don't quit me on that um it's a lot uh it's it's big uh Andrew has the exact numbers I'll I'll get them to throw on the chat when he wakes up tomorrow morning uh amazing can the second question we have how big is the team at near blocks you guys seem to have a lot on your growing every minute so there's six of us six yeah amazing great work yeah I yeah I just quickly want to highlight like first of all I did and it's not only me but like a lot of people noticed that uh uh they are like that near block got like very fast and so I just want to quickly highlight this because I'm not quite sure that uh like for the people who haven't been following ear blocks and the history of near is that um now thanks to um Source scan uh we have reproducible builds and at the moment if we uh browse to the to the contract addresses uh that have been built with cargon and the latest tooling and SDK uh we can actually look at at the source code so this is pretty huge because users can now verify of like what is the actual contract that they are interacting with and so uh other ecosystems have have have had this for a while some ecosystems are yet to have that but we do and it's amazing and I would like to it's been an effort for that's been going for quite a while and um this is huge need and thanks a lot for everybody who uh actually made that possible speaking of which uh one of the contributors is around uh cani eth or Andre grev uh this is is a bit like off the agenda Andre but if you have a minute to talk a little bit about uh what would be next from for Source can that would be amazing to hear and like because a huge portion of the work has been done and it's here out but what would be next yeah uh thank you forting highlighting this uh so basically uh as you can see also in this UI we have a verified one of one uh and like the verifier contract in the future we uh think it would be great to have different sources of verification so for example we would have like three four trusted verifiers and actually um to make sure that these verifiers are behaving uh not as a b actors it would be great to have like several uh people running these purifiers uh also uh uh we would introduce uh the test net verification because right now we only have indexer for main net uh and uh it would be possible to verify the uh smart contract uh manually not only uh using the indexer if you want to verify it immediately because sometimes it would take some time it would take time for indexer to catch the action then verify and then uh update the smart contract so this is what we have um in upcoming future amazing great and uh just uh just to clarify I'm curious actually like what would be the requirements for somebody to become a verifier like uh would it be more of a hardware uh requirements or would it be like more of kyc and like it should be a trusted person on how does that work and how can somebody get involved this is still uh like a an idea so it would need to be refined uh so we don't get uh know like the requirements the verify uh but you don't actually have to you don't need a lot of Hardware to be verifier nice that's uh that's amazing thanks again for the amazing work um it's really like a huge step forward for the entire ecosystem not only for now but for uh the foreseeable future so thanks a lot Andre for the way that the the great work that you have done you and your team uh so and yeah by the way uh Luke sorry for bouncing around but is there uh is there a testet version of the near block light yep ah amazing that's that's great okay um next to the the agenda we once again we're happy to have Morgan W uh with okash Dev last month he quickly gave updates as he just popped into the co which was super amazing to have you around uh so this time with a little bit more updates and what okashi has been up to uh thanks for the intro Let me see if I can share my screen it's always a nice exercise uh let me know if and when you can see it yes we can um cool so hey everyone uh my name is Morgan um I'm from okashi the developer tool for R Developers getting started on blockchain or just people getting started on blockchain using rust um keyword being rust and um so this is the current build and I'll show you what the problem is and you know iterate over the journey here um so this is an editor that compiles your contract for a specific environment uh that's not currently supporting near we can talk about that uh at the end of the talk um and then you get some output so here's a contract you compile it um you get some buttons um in the contract widget um after the compiler is done click the button it calls and then that executes in the browser um that's cool but as a developer um if you want to write um something let's say you want uh u8 um and then checked add right for the devs there um you'll notice that nothing came up there's no auto complete right and even though you know the method or you might know what to type the arguments or whatever um that's still a very unnatural experience and to go to the Natural experience um vs code right that's always the editor of choice and um we've had issues where folks sort of just copy and paste uh stuff from vs code until Kashi compile it and Iraq with there um but then that introduces you know your tool requires another tool to be useful um so we really wanted to change that and bringing in the vs code experience and um how does it how does that experience look well I'll start typing right and you get this beautiful sort of drop down right with these options and um we thought that's cool let's Implement that and you know for the I won't bother you with all the details but just sort of big picture uh vs code integrates uh the rust analyzer uh rust analyzer is like a process that runs in the background and analyzes your rest and then provides all kinds of utilities um communicating with the vs coded are using the language server protocol or LSP for short um and so yeah rust analyzer does its job and then it spits out uh these autocompletes so we figured let's integrate I'll let's do what what vs code did um and eventually we got to that point where we're sort of replicating um the the experience but we noticed something and I want to share what exactly what we noticed so let's say we want to grab a method from uh unsign in8 and we want to let's say uh do from um big Indian bites now if you were to look more closely into this and um we always look closely I I I can't avoid but not seeing this and let me know if anyone sees a PR yeah no Zed um let me see um who's paying attention is there a problem in the documentation section here um anyone see any any issues well I guess you're so conditioned to vs code uh you don't you don't see that but if you were to look at the signature here which is the a constant function um you'll notice that you know there's whatever this is uh in the array length which is not valid rust and the whole signature seems suspicious and then you go down into the um documentation um you'll notice that there's examples and then there's this example that's not a valid rest example right um and obviously that's that's not we can look up um in the r docs 8 from B by um let's see what it says from B bites right so we can see that in in in the docs let me just blow it up a little bit in the docs we have create native Indian blah blah blah we have one example and we have two examples and a full function in here uh what does vs code give us um V code gives us no example up at the top here um and like a partial example over here um yeah so Vlad doesn't use that UI but a lot of beginners rely on this UI because that's sort of where they get their intuitions that's where they get their stuff and so this was um the sort of a a journey into the belly of uh R an because it turns out um this not just VSS code this goes all the way down to R analyzer and it's a thing that uh affects almost the entirety of the standard library and any rust documentation that um is relying on uh complex more complex macros um and so that's unavailable um that's just unavailable there's no fix um and that's just the way it is um but so we really we really didn't like that um and we started looking for a fix now that's silly right but um turns out uh you can you can do something about it so this is now a local build of okashi um not shipped um and you can see the the the typing now creates some sort of you know autocomplete right and there's some docs in there so let's go to u8 and then let's see that from B byes you'll notice that the signature includes the proper name proper uh array size the docs have two examples um first example that was missing um entirely um and a second example that's not just input equals rest in a Clos bracket but the whole function body as as displayed in the rest documentation as well so um that's what what we're working on um this is very much a laborious process of um indexing and analyzing um and converting from from the r analyzer semantics down to uh the documentation and back but we feel like this is critical this is critical for anyone that's a a beginner getting into rust to be able to get at and understand what they're writing because eventually we want them to write smart contracts and smart contracts deal with money and value and we want to grow a lot of qualified good uh rest developers and for that they need good inputs and good docs and for that to be accessible within the tool that they use um so that's that's sort of the Journey of just you know adding autoc completion is not just adding Auto completion because the current Auto completion for rust is broken and in several senses that are very very important um to to your average Dev to to the dev that we want to on board um just to repeat for anyone that isn't familiar with okashi our mission um is to onboard millions of developers to blockchain and that do and do that using uh rust um and so for that to to be be true and for that to be possible we need really solid uh solid tooling and autocomplete plus the integrated docks um is very very important so um that's probably going to be shipping this week a version of this um shipping this uh this week um and since okashi is not just rust it's also um blockchain um we we do want to enable B uh near um as our second blockchain that we support uh in the environments uh by the end of this year um and hopefully with you know n's help we can we can make that happen so the road map for right now is uh flushing out uh the rest uh developer experience so just having the best tool for um the top of the funnel rust developer um to to get started get their feet wet and then transition that top of the funnel um to an environment for a blockchain that you want to build smart contracts for um that's the update um I hope I didn't Meander for too long uh no that's amazing um I have a question uh you like the the error like the problem that you showed and you said that this is across the rust the entire rust documentation does that include like this includes like even third party crates and like absolutely everything or is it solely for the the main main docks uh well I can't confirm specific crates uh but I can say that any rust dock um that uses macros um can be affected um and you know a lot of rust crates use rust docks with macros uh so um to be specific I I would have to go through and and look at um at the crate but this problem this problem is pretty endemic um and it's been noted um in the r analyzer Repose and and I've submitted issues myself and sort of engaged in that conversation um but it's something that you know is is is so deep uh that they can't easily uh fix that and and and thus that requires sort of a a secondary Loop um on the client's side which we're doing with okashi to um link it up with the proper um documentation and this is also enabled by the Json rest docks um which is still fairly fresh uh as a standard and the rest do standard is HTML right um and that not something that is easy to parse but yeah um this is pretty endemic as a problem yeah and so do I stand correct like how how how did you tackle it like do you you mentioned that you're indexing the The Docks but are you scraping them or you just parsing the the markdown files and then trying to link it some somehow to link it to the actual commanded person so so we generate Json R STS um um so there's there's no need to uh scrape um the the data is there um but the data is organized in a way that um is not really um accessible to anything that rest analyzer gives us um so there's a lot of glue in between and a secondary indexing that needs to happen so there's um quite a pipeline uh to join up um the rust analyzer semantic analysis to the documentation that's correct um and that glue is happening on on the client side with okashi amazing it's very it's very funny how like a project that starts from like the very sides of uh something that it gets it went from completely different Direction gets to contribute and to find errors that have been there for like prob years and they're so root into the like entire language so this is crazy and so I assume that as when we are talking about top down depths like currently focusing what you're trying to achieve is actually help bring bringing the rest analyzer uh for the rest developers I assume that would the next step because uh you are supporting soran correct so we're supporting two environments right now which uh basic rust um which we execute rust applications in the browser and then the sorond environment which is EST Stellar blockchain VM um like also executing within the browser so uh the idea was ever since Denver um to get to a point where we can add near um to to the supported blockchains um but we really wanted to get the Russ separation um so that there's a single funnel we don't want to be like different products for for different chains we want to be a single sort of um tool um and to do that we needed the rust umbrella and for rust to be good for a brand new sort of newbie Dev getting into it well we need to solve some of these problems yeah that's amazing and like uh like all due respect for not trying to jump in on like every wagon and like half support of something but having a solid foundation because what uh what you're undertaking uh it's pretty hard like and we see that there are some projects into the same space from like other ecosystems and they have huge financial support huge teams and like it's crazy amount of work to get to be stable yeah so it's amazing that and it's very good con I congratulate you on that of like not trying to support everything out of the box lay a good solid foundation and then build on top of it yes of course it takes time and a lot of effort but I think that uh even if slow but like some progress and solid foundation I think it's key so I'm happy to see uh that you're progressing and you're pushing forward and happy to see that um uh you are still interested and you are interested into um helping out the near ecosystem as well so absolutely we are very happy to that we have you around uh we have a question uh how how can we help so what would be the steps for like getting this toer would it be like only financial support or there would be like need or there is possibilities for people to contribute to cash so um yeah besides of financial support there's the question of integrating cargo near or rather um trying to do things uh without cargo near that equal uh cargo near um and that's just because we want to have a pipeline that um works with you know just compiling with rust c um otherwise we would sort of have to yeah have very tailored Solutions in the there's there's two Services right um behind okashi one's the compiler service and the other one's the analyzer service um and right now we're we're thinking that if we can find a solution to you know replicating cargo near with just cargo uh and rust C then we we could have just a singular compiler service and not having to um duplicate efforts there um so help in that regard in the technical sense would be interesting because I I remember uh you know things like generating the ABI um was a thing that was only possible with cargo near um and I would love for there to be an option to have that sort of product um being generated with just a just a Pargo or just compiler but again those are sort of the more more technical discussions that we can sort of come up with um you know the pain points concrete uh things and and um but yeah there's some of them because it's a highly technical Pro product yeah amazing I would yeah feel free to to to reach me out or any of my colleagues of like regarding any technical issues and we will try to match you up with the right people to talk with so yeah thanks a lot for your presentation um do we have uh any other questions for Kashi I guess not all right then uh so that's it for today thank you all for being here once again once again if you want to present your work suggest discussion topics or
